i agree with milltown, i went to one a fe years ago a year after an acident i had, got told it was all in my head and just to take pain kills not one GP actually examined me at the time, went to so a chiro, turns out i had a twisted pelvis, twisted spine and parts of my neck where seperated, after this i was sent to a DSS doctor, who said i had impared spinal function, so spent the money with the chiro, am ok now, only get pain after a bad nights sleep
best bet is try and find out what problem is weather it is bones or muscle, could be a trapped nerve
it sounds stupid, but have a look at ur shoes if one wears out quicker than the other this can be a sign of a lower back problem as ur body will shift the weight to ur good side, and you dont even notice
