65ft Ionics Ergo-Lite ....... Could i hire it out ?
« on: February 12, 2010, 09:53:25 pm »

I have a 65ft Ionics Ergo-Lite that i use on the odd occasion, that i sat nicely in my garage.

However, i was thinking if window cleaners in the North West ever priced up jobs & didnt want to spend alot of money buying a pole, due to only needing to use it now & then.

How much could i rent it for per day you think ?

Only a thought.

Because if i had the opportunity to hire a pole per day i would have done rather than spend over £1000.00 buying one.

Any thoughts  ???

good idea archer, however if i were you i would also look at some sort of refundable deposit in case of damage. i know what you mean though as you may have one very highly paid job that you do once or twice a year yet the fact you may have to pay out £xxx for a pole sort of wipes out your profit

how much would you charge then mate?

personnaly i would find out what they are using it for an try and work out a % of the job price. your not going to hire it to just anyone so im sure they will be honest with you, as like i said before if i got a job that desperatly needed such pole then by buying out for it could wipe out all or most of the money receivec

I would pay £30 a day. anymore than that I would have reservations and consider buying one, but I suppose it depends on the job. Good idea about the £200 deposit, thats a fair price

I would offer to do all the high work  for them. It would be cheaper for them  than them getting a cherry picker

I think you better check with your insurance company first

I had some one want to hire mine but talking to the insurance company changed my mind for what i would get back

They said if anything went wrong i could have been liable

What if it was nicked and they can not replace it?
What if 5 sections got broken?

If you take it to them what about travelling loss of earnings costs

Bryan,

good points

i would actually put it on paper to say i had sold it to them, when they had finished buy it back if you know what i mean

Example: if you lent me your ladder and i fell off it, i could possibly sue you - but by doing it on paper would cover me

Archer,

In that case I'll rent it from you and when you've give me a copy of the paperwork to say you have sold it to me and taken the £200 sale price I'll just keep it.

Archer,

I dont need to rent your poles I have my own. I am just pointing out that by faking a sale to dodge your hirers liability and the fact I or anyone else would have a receipt of sale means I could keep it if I wanted to promise of a visit or not!

AL S,

Firstly, i think you will find by law IF you lent a ladder to your neighbour in good faith & he fell off YOU could be sued, i know this as a FACT as a lad who worked for me years ago fell off a ladder working with me.

The solicitors first question was:   Was it my ladder or his ladder and then told me the law regarding equipment.

Secondly, if someone wanted to be clever like your saying and take the p--s out of my good faith and nature, then no matter who they are, oneway or the other they wouldn't want the visit.

That isn't small talk, just how it is

I hire Dj equipment out as im a mobile DJ

I hire a pair of CDJ1000's most weekends, they are worth over £1100 EACH!

I take a deposit by credit card, and keep a driving licence or passport while there on hire.
If they wont give me the licence i don't give them the CD player.

only had one person that wouldnt give me his passport, so he didnt get the Cd player , but he was a chav i didn't trust.
