cant believe i didnt think of this in 20yrs
« on: February 12, 2010, 08:51:32 pm »
done a house today in and out georgian windows took nearly 4 hrs handbashing, i came to the last window above the stairwell and couldnt quite reach the last little square........... so i used my little green unger scraper with microfibre cloth wrapped round it, a bit like using a sanding block......then thought that was easy!! did a few more panes and the news is you can

DOUBLE your speed doing georgian windows........ i will now make a 4inch square block for the future perfect for getting into corners!!

cant believe it took me 20yrs to stumble on to such an obvious technique.

That's a good idea. I will give that a go.  :)

ok,  all it needs to be is a 4inch square piece of mdf sheet or ply  10-20mm wide then just put it in the cloth pull it up around the wood so you use that to hold it and apply pressure to the glass then just move it around...................honestly guys it is sooooooooooo much easier i really cant believe anyone else hadnt thought of it!!

I just tried it using my wife's ice scraper from her car.

It seems to work OK for getting into corners.

I think I'll call it the omni-ragpusher and sell them for £39.97 + VAT

loads quicker and easier as its a larger surface area of the block thats in contact with the glass, honestly this should change the way we all handbash georgian panes...................... wish i thought of it earlier in my career though.....duh

hi jeff,
I use an electric tooth brush for inside frames that have that black stuff around the edges.
A good tip that you suggest with the block.

What were the four biz's being nosey?
