Doing our competitors work!!
« on: June 30, 2005, 08:40:37 pm »
Evening all....

Not so much a question, but a thought.....

.....I know that it is the end of year for a lot of developers, and that for us in the new build cleaning side of the business we find this time of year very busy.

However, because a lot of our competitors are not coping with the work load, just this week alone 3 different developers have called us begging us to do some Sparkle cleans for them.....so that they do not let their buyers down!!

This is good for us, because we can charge a premium for such last minute cleaning, sometimes charging 40 - 50% more than usual.....and they go for it!!

I find that although we too are really busy, I take this work on, because it is a wonderful opportunity to see the work the "competition" do, and ask the sales team, site agent etc how they find the cleaning!! Excelent opportunity to learn from others mistakes, plus getting work at a premium price, plus we get noticed as a company, plus we sometimes get to finish such sites when they realise their cleaning is not any good from our "competition".

I am not mentioning this to big my Company up and say that it is better than all the others, but it works both ways! We all have to be the best, otherwise the "competition" will soon be taking over our contracts too if our Standards slip!!

Going to do Sparkles for George Wimpey and David Wilson Homes tomorrow.....appologies if they end up being sites that any of you guys have!!

Happy cleaning

Tim

hello tim,

well what a week,
we handed over 24 dwh plots, and i think about 14 gw plots, its crazy.

and then we have got another 20 plots to hand over week ending 8th july, i think someone is being a  bit sneaky for the next quarter.

dwh are just chucking houses out at the moment, we have one site that is put out another 60 plots before the year end alone, and we have picked up 4 bovis sites this week.

its the weirdest game to be in one day the sales team hate you and then at 5.00pm on the last day of the half year, oh your the best thing since sliced bread.

we are well positioned to go through the rest of the year, and interestingly we have won two new developers, that we havent worked for previously, now thats nice.

so keep it going

regards

martin
