countrywide windowcleaning

Are you planning on covering the whole country?

I always think a location type name is good...

IMHO you can't beat using your own name.  Ours is a very personal sort of service (My window cleaner is how they think of you) so it pays to let everyone know who you are.

We are "Ian Lancaster Window Cleaner*" (the star is just to make them look a little bit longer ;))

People know and recognise us.

I'm not so sure they would see "County Wide" or "Sparkle Bright", or "Clear View" in the same way.

It's part of my logo - my name is in ordinary Arial font, "Window Cleaner" is the same but in italics and then I added an asterisk (*) afterwards to catch the eye and hold attention for a second or two longer to give the reader a chance to notice what it was they were looking at.

Seems to work for me ;)****

Ian,

Did you ever use a different name for your business?

I chose "Southern Cleaning Services" because I am based in the South and was going to offer other kinds of cleaning services... Im now thinking about changing my business name to "Something Window Cleaning" and just continue to focus on window cleaning - Im not sure what to do at the moment.

In the early days when I was just me on my own, there wasn't much competition so the need for 'high profile' didn't exist.  I didn't actually call myself anything - I was just 'the window cleaner' and everybody in my neighbourhood knew me and most were either customers or on my 'waiting list'.

In the early 90's when I met my second wife, we decided to expand and employ, and so we needed to formalise things a bit and Ian Lancaster Window Cleaner* came into existence.

I then had a break for a couple of years when I was running my FiltaFry franchise, but revitalised the old brand when I started the current business.

Would a van painted green on one side and orange on the other bearing the legends "Six counties window cleaning" on the green side and "Ulster window cleaning" on the other not work?  ;D ;D ;D
It's a game of three halves!

Only if it were green on the left side, orange on the right side and travelled only from east to west along the border ;D ;D ;D

I think you'd have to travel South to North as the orange boys are predominantly on the East of Northern Ireland!

Darren, I'm sorry but I can't believe it's taken over 24 hours to think of a business name.

Just get on with it man, your business will never be successful, if it takes you this long to make a decision.

A name is very important... You have to be happy with it. Does it really matter how long it takes to decide on one?

D.M. Window Cleaning sounds good to me... Or you could even use "Full Name Window Cleaning"... Have you checked the availability of domain names?

Darren,

I'm not trying to get personal, just trying to help gee you along. Personally, I would go with Toucan Window Cleaning.

a) It's not currently being used by anyone else
b) It's much more memorable than Darren or DM Window Cleaning
c) You have the choice of three colours, black, white and orange to assist you with branding, i.e vans, cards etc,
