split charger

had one fitted in van sometimes can only get about two hours work before ihave to run the engine is this because off short journeys any ideas

still take the battery off and charge on mains,

short journeys dont charge the battery fully,just keeps it top up.

I had one fitted. Waste of money. Only does the job on long journeys.

you need the battery that runs the pump to be a deep cycle or 100a/h. and maybe an uprated alternator. Its the starting and stopping and cold thats draining your battery not the pump
The best thing to do is buy top of range Odessy battery from devon 4x4. they are about £300 dont bother with split charge system. just pop it on charge at weekend.
You may think £300 is pricy but to have a split charge set up correctlty will cost more.
as you will need , uprated altanator( esspecially if you do alot of short runs), one starter battery, one deep cylce and the split charge set up, this will cost more than the oddessy.
