arrived at my first job today with a frozen truckmount it was a 3pc suite and grafted kitchen carpet.

I knew I could bonnet the carpet so that was'nt a problem, but how could I clean the suite

luckily I remembered I had 3lts of V/S Red Label in my van, this is a foam cleaner used in Von Schrieder machine.

so we gave the suite a good brush then vacuumed it, we mixed the foam in a pump up spray bottle and misted it across the fabric, gave it a good a scrub then misted some more onto it, then scrubbed again. After the second mist you could see a good head of foam across the fabric.

luckily my truckmount is modular so the vacuum is separate from the frozen pump, I used the truckmount to vacuum off the foam, it did an amazing job the suite looked really good!! and dried before we had finished the kitchen.

when we came to do the kitchen I was so impressed by how the foam worked on the suite I decided to use it again on the grafted kitchen carpet which was Flotex.

we sprayed plenty down then started to give it a good scrub with the Envirodry, it started to get very scary the foam was really building up and looking black! but again after I vacced it off the carpet looked OK so we did it again this time the foam was white after vaccing the carpet looked great.

we might start using this system more

I wondered that, maybe if that's the case you could ask them to book you in once a month

this is a polymer based shampoo which makes carpets 'stay cleaner longer' ( according to V/S)

'rapid re soiling' why? these are just buss words that people throw out when detergents or foam or  NVS are mentioned, does anyone really have any evidence of this happening?  or it it just one of these things that is passed along from carpet cleaner to carpet cleaner without out any real evidence.

remember the amount of actual chemical & water on this carpet is about 85% less that HWE, so the amount of chemical left on the carpet is significantly less than if I use my truckmount

why would this re-soil any quicker if there is so much less chemical left on the carpet? plus what is left is designed to crystallize and be vacuum up unlike most HWE chemicals

But I do know that the foam we used to use from Auto Glym did re soil quite quickly with car upholstery....

Mike,what about using the Von Schrader system anyway?
Do any members use Von Schrader ? If so,whats your opinion
Of their system and what are spare parts like as regards
Ease of obtaining them?

but found it awkward to use in confined places, how I worked today was the same principle but I think better. the agitation was more thorough and the extract more powerful

Been using chrystalising foam on suites for about 6 years.............started with the V S machine but found it quicker and more effective using bonett mitts .

The mitts give excellent agitation and hold the foam better than a brush. Mentioned it on here a few times.......also used a couple of times in tiny attic flats / rooms when no hot water was available with the little Oreck with bonett

Does look a bit of a mess. I suppose as its the kitchen , you keep the client out and maybe its a time you brew up for them (so they dont see the mess)

Jim why re-book? they wanted thier carpet and sute cleaning and that's what I did. but to be honest we had dustsheated the hallway and livingroom the customer had cleared the room, the truckmount was set up...then we found out it was frozen : : so we were at a point of no return

did you watch the V/S video? this amount of foam is how the system works. like I said in my first post I did find it a little worrying but until we got stuck in we didn't know it would be so bad. but in the end it worked brilliant.

this is the good thing about being a carpet cleaning genius, you can overcome any problems that may arise we could even have direct feed the handtool & wand from the customers tap,  but decided to go with the foam.

I agree with Jim and the amount of foam, I would have had a fit if I had seen that on my carpet.

In actual fact in your picture it looks like you are tidying up after the washing machine has chucked it all out.

Seems like you came up with a solution that suited everybody, customers rarely have any idea what's going on, so long as you did it confidently and the results were good.Well done I say.

It might be different with a TM but with that foam did you use de-foamer in the machine?

I thought that amount of foam would damage the motors have been informed that it damages in porties.

I heard about someone who cleaned up after one of those foam parties in a club on a course I was on Both motors wrecked

Imo not a good idea to use Envirodri ,too much moisture.
Bearings in your Envirodri will sieze up if you keep using this method of cleaning.
What you are then left with is the complete bearing moving, causing wear on the metal casing.
Otherwise change bearing every few months.

If you consider for a moment that the foam has a water content of only 10% - 15% rather than hwe's 100% water, you should realise that the drying time is low especially if powerful extraction is used. Being low foaming products they dont expand the way Vanish, etc does when we run over with HWE.

Although it looks messy in the photo it's a low foaming product and easily dispersed.

Most of the water content will evaporate quickly, anything remaining chrystalises  and being non sticky does not resoil quickly, in fact some have a re soiling inhibitor.

I was googling to see if i could find what content of water would be in a foam, now obviously it would make a differnce as to the type and density of foam, but from what i could gather water content would infact be minimal. cant see a problem.
