I worked installing and repairing CCTV for 15 years and by what your saying it doesn't sound like a camera fault?

Check all connections and the battery and the battery being the first thing to check, Try a new battery if you have to, once your happy the power supply is ok the next step is to try and check all the connections.

Power up the system and from the power supply to the camera take hold of the connection from the battery and wobble it (keeping your eye on the monitor for the fault to appear) if the connection is ok then take the cable in both hands (keep one hand still) and moving along the cable wobble the cable close to your fingers, you are looking for a break in the cable, again keep your eye on your monitor for the fault.

The cable will be or should be a screened cable, Just one tiny strand from the screen touching the signal cable will produce the fault you describe.

If you have a spare cable then try that before all the above,  I'm surprised omnipole didn't do that first because I know from your description it is not the camera at fault. HTH

still not working looks like the battery is not charging up, surprised this wasnt checked when i sent it back.  all i get on the screen is no signal ..   just before that the screen went to a flashing white picture. but now even that has stopped. i think it might be more than the battery?

I should check your battery because my money is still on the battery or connections from the power supply or the signal cable from your camera to your monitor.

What did you send back to omnipole? was it Just the camera or the whole system? an engineer should have checked each piece of your equipment on a test kit.

i sent he whole system back to omnipole. i have noticed that when i plug in the charger (which has a red light for bulk charge, and a green light for float charge) both lights stay on, normally its one or the other. ive been all over town today and cant find a replacement battery anywhere.

What type of battery is it? ie voltage and what type of connections does it have?

If you have a multi-meter stick it on 20v DC and test the voltage of the battery to give an indication of its condition I'm assuming the system is a 9v-12v system but your battery isn't that old is it??   if it hasn't been used and kept in the box for a long time then the battery could actually be dead.

Maplins or ebay is the place you can get that battery, they are standard re-chargeable ones. do you have a backpack? if so you can use that to charge your old one up & borrow the battery from that to test your CCTV.

Oh and in future even if your not going to use your system for a while, remove the battery once a week and charge it up, that way next time you come to use it you will find it works fine. ;)

Phone them up and ask them to return your old camera back and lets see how their customer relations pans out.  ;)
