I just surveyed premises of a potential client in Islington-London area.

I am at a lose as to  what i should quote.

Here is a little about the place...i will appreciate any feedback or quote you think is reasonable for this type of job:

4(four) Floors

3(three) bedrooms

2(two) toilets

5(five) landing areas

Stairs a fully carpeted.

Large Kitchen

Backyard Garden(remove loose rubbish and sweep area)


Client wants 4 hours, twice a week cleaning.

Cleaning to include, washing some cloths(washing machine on premises) and ironing. Dish washing.

Client wants me to supply all cleaning material except the hoover.


What would be considered a reasonable quote for doing all the above? Please help me.

I don't do domestic, but I'm guessing £50 a visit minimum and I'd also suggest that you monitor the job to make sure the client has allowed enough time to allow for all the tasks that you're required to do

I am in Plymouth and charge £9.00 per hour, but our prices are very low compared to the home counties..........I do not know what potentiasl customers would expect to pay in Islington, but I would guess at somewhere between £10 and £15 remembering earlier posts by some of the guys up that way.

I agree with pristine clean's £50 per visit, and agree too that 4 hrs may not be enough as it all depends on what is required on the day such as the amount of washing, ironing, backyard cleaning, as these are the things that are likely to vary each time).

Thanks all for the feedback....I quote the client at £10 per hour....

I just got an email...the client has declined my services saying my price is too high, more than they are willing to pay.

I am just second guessing myself now...should i have given a lower quote?

You should never start lowering your prices just to get work from your clients. Do you buy a magazine from Newsagent for £3.99 and say it is too much, can I buy it for £2.99? No one else does it, so why should we?
What would you rather do? 10 clients a week at £10/hour......or try and fit in 15 clients at £7/hour for roughly the same money? I know which way I would choose!!
Let the cowboys have the cheap jobs, and let serious cleaners look for the choice contracts.

hi...im new to this site but been in business for 18 months now....i think for the size of the house £10 per hr was a cheap price ...i dont give an hourly rate just a price per house..and i agree that you shouldnt lower your prices cos if you do a good job customers will come to you
   youve got to remember that insurance advertisin materials car costs all come out of that £10   so not a lot left for you
