lucky to be here
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:20:34 pm »
on the 18th of december i had a serious fall from my ladder, broke my right arm,and badly smashed my left leg.I had a 5 hour operation on my leg, which i have 8 screws in and a metal plate.also banged my head, had to have ct scan which came back all clear.always believed in cleaning windows traditionally, but will now have to use pole system.I am sat in a wheel chair getting very bored,as always very active.I will not be able to work again for at least 6 months due to my injuries.so to all those window cleaners out there that still use ladders.will now be using the pole system to clean the up windows.Never thought it would happen to me ,as been using ladders for the last 15 years.

sorry to hear that. great post - makes all the trad guys think again. been running up n down a ladder for ten years and had a few bumps but never a really bad one. i get annoyed when customers expect you to do all sorts of crazy access windows. going wfp in the next few days.

hope you can get someone to do your round for you.

thats good to hear. ;D

posts like this makes you think about safety even more.

amount of houses i do with slippy flat roofs and stupid slanted roofs.

alot of customers dont realise how dangerous it is.

good luck

Hope you mend well and all the best.

Similar thing happened to me 20 years ago, had no poles then though, had to go back to trad,

But I will tell you this and all the other ladder users out there, it hurt and it still hurts twenty odd years on.

I went the way of water-fed when I got the chance about 8 years ago and NO looking back.

Sorry to hear about your fall.

Keep busy planning and doing things. This is a good place to do your planing, you will get plenty of arguments but should arrive at something that is good for your business.

I really feel for you, I have recently broke my shoulder.

I dont know how I would cope with your severity of injury.

Keep your chin up and keep your mind occupied.
