Hi

I there anyone around the Huntingdon area who repairs prochem portable machines?

I have been charged £40hr for fixing my carpet cleaner it took them 3hrs bloody joke

Sorry to say Nick, but they're charging £5 per hour less than what I charge per hour for cleaning carpets (Give or take a few quid!).... I personally think £40 per hour's quite reasonable!!!!!

But seriously Nick... what is the problem with the machine?  Or is it fixed but you're just trying to find somewhere to take it next time?

Portables are ridiculously simple most of the time... after a bit of a help first time round, you should find changing a vac or pump an absolute doddle in the future.

I'm in Kettering mate, takes me about 20 mins to get the the A141/A1 interchange from here.  You're welcome to pop over one day if you need a hand changing a vac or pump or something.  

Bring a sausage & egg mcmuffin meal with you and I'll be more than happy

Like Jim says, they are a doddle to fix..... Top tip, if you are unsure, take before pictures so you can refer back if you forget which wires go where! That's what we did on the whirly birds!!!!

Bloody hell how much!!! Did wonder why mates brought his machine round to me on Sunday afternoon too fix and also borrowed my backup too finish his job?

Oh spotted several problems within 5 seconds of opening the lid all down to him! Think cost of seals will break his heart from his supplier it surprised me

it does'nt take 3hrs to clear a blocked pump, they are ripping you off

Your better off replacing a pump or vac than paying £120 for someone to fix it.

Some pumps are about £400 so £120 is cheap

Re-building a Pumptec head, complete re-seal, new plunger,
poppets, removal and refitting, 1 hour, and that was the first one i did.

Didnt realise Prochem made machines with anymore than a 135psi flojet or shurflo . hence the comment to put a new pump on than pay £120 to get it fixed.
As someone also said the pumptec is easy to replace or rebuild the pump head. Last head I bought was £150 plus vat.
Does the actual motor ever give any troubleon these?

I'm wondering how a pump gets "blocked"   Seems a little suss but ah well, at least the machine is back in service.

Prob blocked with air, bet he just put an open ended hose on and turned the pump on, 5 mins job

I've fixed a few machines with blocked pump feed pipes. Blocked with fine hair and fibres which had got through tank filter. Right pig to do and diagnose, easier after first one.
