Resin Cartridge
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:50:28 pm »
Previous to now I have always used a re-fillable cartridge (700ml) for my resin. I tried to order a new cartridge from Gardiners (the old one broke) but they could only send me a pre-filled cartridge (in other words you dispose of it after using it). I have inserted it into the housing and it seems to fit perfectly. My ppm reading before the water passes through it is 36 and I am getting the same reading after it has passed through this DI filter instead of zero???. Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong? Is there something I need to do to prepare the filter cartridge before use?

When I change my resin I run the produced water into a bowl till the reading comes down, when I first start my reading is about 20, but leave it running for 15 mins periodically checking the tds and it eventually comes down to 000. Hope this helps. Sure one of the other lads will be able to help if that doesnt do the trick.  ;)

it sounds as if the cartridge isnt seated well enough ( thus letting water by-pass the resin )

why not just refill your old cart ? ? ? you say you used to re-fill, why not continue / / ?

Try using an extra rubber for better protection

Hey, I am having a problem with my tds too, after I have refilled my cartridge, which sounds like the same cartridge at 700ml.

The problem may be that when I emptied my cartiridge of resin, two round spongy parts fell out, should these go above and below the resin or both at the top/bottom of the cartridge.

Any help appreciated, its one of the ones john hewitt sells, pic near the bottom of this page

Thanks, Gary
