Hi guys and gals,hope someone can shed some light on this for me
I have a 2 man setup in the van,650 ltr tank,outlet hose split into 2 with hoselock splitter,2 pumps and 2 reels.
When I connect the battery up to either pump it just kicks in with a low thrumming sound and the water comes thru the pole as a trickle
When I disconnect the pump hose from the reel the water flows faster and the pump kicks in full power so I replace the pump hose onto the reel and alls fine.Until we move on to next job and we have to repeat the procedure 
There are no leaks in any of the hoses either the pump hose (tricloflex) or the delivery hose (microbore).

We've got a very similar set-up, although we only have the one pump for the 2 man set-up. We have a spare in the garage.

This same thing happended to us once and it turned out that resin was choked up at the splitter. I think we must have put the DI tank on the wrong way round and it was being forced out of the tank. Make sure the 'water in' arrow on the DI tank is the right way round.

You might need to flush out your hoses to clear the reswin. If it's not that, I haven't a scooby. Cheers

when u connect it up, how long does it stay crap for,  or does it just stay crap, until you disconnect the hose, as it sounds like it has an air trap problem, possibly in the pipe from pump to reel  and when you disconnect it   the air gets released

i would turn system on and just let it trickle out and see how long it takes to get to full flow

Daz,iv tried mate and it will just carry on thrumming low till we disconnect it.
I know what u mean as our last setup used to start like this then build up to full flow but this simply wont until i uncouple it.
Trouble is as you can imagine every time i uncouple it theres water all over the van

can you try some one elses  reel on it 

do you have a turn off valve on pole, if you do, try using this instead of disconnecting the battery, as this might keep the pressure up on the hose and reel

try fully extending your reel and turnng the pump on as if you was working and see if there is any kinks near end, as this might be the reason, it is struggling until you realise the air when you take it off

i use to be a plumber and usually for bad pressure it is usually a blockage or air blockage,

can you try a different pump  u might have  a faulty pressure switch

It sounds like your getting an air lock in between jobs.  If there is no evidence of leaks it could be before the pumps sucking in at a loose joint.  Also how are the pumps connected to the hoses, with barbs and jubilee clips or via hoselock, hoselocks can be leaky.  Have you tried not turning the pumps off between jobs and therefor keeping the reels and pumps pressurised, but obviously not running, I never turn my pumps off throughout the day as the flow controller stops the pumps form pumping when nothing is pumped in.

Hi guys thanks for the posts.
Yep weve tried keeping them pressurised but it still seems hit n miss.
Barb and jubilee clip connections for pump and hose.
 
Gonna recheck all connections later.

Petski...try this.

Mine does exactly the same.
Disconnect it from the hosereel and point outside the van. (If you've got a one-way valve you'll need to pull the connecter off too)
Now turn the pump on pretty fast. After 5 to 10 seconds you'll hear it gurgle as it sucks excess air out the system.
Once it's running smooth and no bubbles, connect it back up and it'll be fine.

I have to do this after nearly every house.
Unless it's only a small drive to the next one, but the slightest sloshing about and there's more air.
