ripped off by yellow pages
« on: January 21, 2010, 01:44:49 pm »
got an invoice in the post this morning from yellow pages for an advert that i didnt want, basically, they sent me and advert i asked for a few things to be changed and what they sent me was crap, so said leave it at the first one for now, an emailed them this,  they have admited that they got the email from me saying not to use this advert, but then claimed they sent me a other email asking me to choose which one i wanted,  i never received this email and they can not tell me what e-mail they sent it too as they dont keep records lol,  so basically, they have an email saying dont use this advert so have decided to use it themselves

told them i wasnt paying for that advert as it wasnt the one i wanted, dont mind paying for the advert i wanted,  even said i will pay the amount for the first advert as this is the one i wanted, as i cant change this advert as it has already gone out,  just sounds like a scam by the sales man for more commission

sorry rant over,  just be careful when dealing with yellow pages

I had the same problem with Yell.com. The sales guy said I could try it for 2 months, it turned out to be no more than 2 weeks before I got invoice fopr nearly £400.

Refused to pay, still kept getting invoices, went on for nearly 3mths. Then by accident, I found a forum where many people had been offered the same deal. Spoke to Yell and told them what I had found and that I would be getting in touch with Trading Standards. At that point, they decided to cancel the so called agreement and call it a day.

In the future, I will not be dealing with any company that has YELLOW in their title!! :)

Its ever since yell took over yellow pages. They used to be easy to talk to and helpful.

I advertised for years with the old yellow pages and had no probs whatsoever,
but 2 years ago when i said no to them wanting me in their directory they just put the phone down on me.....charming i thought.  ::)

Have never had problems with dealing with them, even when they get things wrong. Phone and speak to someone and explain your problem. Although the advert is wrong does it have your correct details on? If so try and compromise with them over the bill, maybe they could give you a freebie on yell.com. It's worth a try especially if you say you feel the rep did his job wrong! :)

We managed to get a free line in the Yellow Pages and a placement on Yell.com, this is just a try out!
I dont mind a 12 month try out!
If they do try billing me for it, I will tell them to take a run and jump!
