Dear Ozioma,
The best advice I can give you is this:
People who start their business with much money and little work nearly always fail. People who start their business with much work and little money usually succeed.
Even if you have much money, do not use it to start your business. Instead, use your brain and your muscles and your sweat.
Don't go into business, GROW into business. By that I mean start small and grow your business as your skills, knowledge and understanding of the business grows. At the same time, put 10% of your income into buying equipment and 10% into marketing and advertising.
Decide on your niche. Make your niche an inch wide and a mile deep.
If I were you, I would focus on cleaning the houses of very wealthy people. These people are always complaining that their maids and gardeners are lazy and no good. Tell them that you work for yourself so you are not lazy and you do a good job every time. If they do not like your work, they can not pay you.
Ask them what a good job will look like and then give them an even better job.
Start by offering to clean the front walls and gates (that everybody can see) and do a first class job. Ask them to recommend you to their neighbours. Then start adding services. You can also clean the exterior of the house. You can also clean windows. You can also deep clean kitchens.
You might decide to offer to clean shops or offices. It's up to you. But niche your business.
Work, work, work and then work some more. When you have twice as much work as you can do, find someone you trust to work with you. Tell them that you are looking for someone who will start at the bottom and become a manager.
Work, work, work, work, work and then work some more until the two of you are doing the work of four people.
Then employ two more people. Tell them that if they are clever and work hard, they will start at the bottom and become supervisors.
Work, work, work, work, work and then work some more until the four of you are doing the work of eight people.
And so on.
Then you can afford to spend four hours a day cleaning and four hours a day managing your cleaners.
As your business grows, you will spend less time cleaning and more time managing - but always spend at least two hours a day cleaning. If you don't, you will become fat and stupid and forget what real work is. (I'm sure you see many fat, stupid people driving Mercedes - they have forgotten what real life is like.)
And remember to spend that 10% on equipment and 10% on marketing.
This is the best of my advice:
1 - Start small and GROW into business.
2 - Have a niche in which you can soon become the leading expert. Then expand into other niches.
I wish you well.
Wally
