ugg boots dye?
« on: January 18, 2010, 04:37:32 pm »
hi all,

i had some one on the phone today saying she had cleaned her ugg boots using water and had put them on a shelf to dry, and the water that has been dripping of the boot while drying has marked her carpet.

will this be a dye that may prove difficult to get off or do yous think it will come off ok  ???.

thanks ralph

A number of factors spring to mind.

Is the carpet wool rich or synthetic? Were the boots sodden wet when cleaned or just surface wet? Were the boots a particularly strong colour? Could it just be dirty water dripping as opposed to dye? How far off the ground was the shelf as the drips will penetrate the carpet further the higher up the shelf was ? Is is a plain, light-coloured carpet?

Without some answers to these and probably other questions it's difficult to say. However if you push me into saying "yes or no" then I would think that a more than acceptable treatment of the drip marks is possible.

well it was my dad that actually spoke to her so not sure of all those details but the main thing i was wondering is if a dye can come out of swade  and if so what would be good to remove it, in general

thanks ralph

Suede can give up dye quite readily.  It will be some sort of aniline dye that has been used and will be very difficult/impossible to get rid of.
