Has anybody noticed that wheelie bin cleaners have disappeared why!

there seams to be very few about these days,

i am thinking of starting up in this line of buisness is there something i should know!

Its very difficult to coordinate the cleaning of the bins now that there are three different bins at most houses and they are all emptied at different times.

The effect of this is to divide your time and it makes it less productive and less profitable. With wheelie bin cleaning you have to more or less follow behind the dustcart and clean the bins before any new rubbish gets put in it.

Also, people who were happy to pay for one bin to be cleaned shy off when it comes to paying for three.

That could be why there is so many wheelie bin businesses for sale i have noted alot of the people that bought franchises up for sale must have crippled them, i still think there is a way forward with this business but it will need a lot of thought,

have noticed people doing there own bins, doing it the same way the cowboys where doing it ,

Now this was stopped with the treat of a £20,000 fine yet joe public seems to get away with it

Its probably not illegal to wash your own bins that way. Its definitely illegal if you are a business.

Round here you just don't see the wheelie bin cleaners any more, they have just disappeared. There were some expensive looking trucks as well.

Quite a few houses where I clean the windows have stickers on their dustbins from various wheelie bin companies. I will ask some questions.

I've got a wheelie bin cleaning business. There are a few things you need to know before you start up. You don't need to spend all that money on a franchise. If you want to speak to me about it I can give you my number.

I would certainly endorse the advice about staying clear of franchises. I am very suspicious of franchises in the cleaning sector. With the exception of perhaps Molly Maids I can't think of one serious reason to give them your money.

Just following up on what was said earlier, I asked one of my customers about her bin cleaning as I had spotted a sticker on her bins. She said they had just stopped coming.

hi james,

I have had a wheelie bin cleaning round for 4 years and have been pleased with the growth even during the recession. i have seen 3 operators start and finish in that time though.

Be prepared for long days as the bin wagons generally start by 7.30 and you need to be close to them or bins get filled again or put away by the customer. Finish at 3.00pm then empty andrefill the van, then collect 2/3 evenings per week

Do your research on competitors/pricing and work out your budget for equipment purchase.
 trailers on e-bay range from 3k-10k. i have a spectrum hot wash unit fitted to a lwb trafic van. i might be selling mine in march.  The franchise route certainly didn'tstack up for me!

Evening all, What grade of filters are we all using as mine keep blocking up very quickly.
Currently using a 50 and 5 Micron.
