Try http://www.sipgate.co.uk

You can use a geographic number and have it diverted to either another landline or mobile number.

Hi mate.

We use this kind of virtual phone number in Russia and, of course, this very very usefull and professional for the company.

Using web interface we could manage online perfect digital office service for incoming calls from customers - excellent greeting and information, different forwarding logics, real multi-channel mode, abilty to organise unlim quantity of company departments and so on. No staff need for that. Real office.

Do advice.

you can get an 0800 number from my website in my signature or i can also provide an internet phone line box, these are awesome!its a one off £50 and you get a 2nd phone line with only £2 a month line rental plus you can also get all your free phone calls, beauty of the box is you can pick any area code and you can take the box anywhere in the world, plug into an internet connection and make and recieve calls from that same number, so handy iuf you want to move house and take number with you

Yep got a few for different businesses.

There £2 ish a month, you only get charged for the calls you receive and have no min call contract.

If you want to know more just send me an email with a contact number (email is in my profile)

I have two mobile disco services and used this guy to set them up for me.

The guy that runs the company is called mark walsh,
http://www.0800dj.co.uk/

Its a one off fee and you never pay a penny for life, you get a online account aswell.

the great thing is that you know that you never have another bill again.

I have them both linked to my mobile and it costs no extra a month.
My wife me on the 0800 number from the home phone and it doesnt cost a penny! ;D

what is more important to you, having a non geographic number? or having a number you can take with you when you move house? As a portable 2nd phone line for £2 a month might suit you, or an 0800 number might give you that edge.
My 0800 number works great for my utility warehouse business but not so well for my window cleaning as some people have thought I would be too expensive and as i live rurally more people prefer to se an area code to know im "local"

yeah i would have 2 numbers on your advertising/van to choose from, give people a choice as it costs them from a mobile, i dont think it puts off good customers, if they think your too expensive because youve got a 0800 no, then i doubt they will be happy to pay £20 per clean.

Do you mean the freephone number or the phone line box? the internet phone line box cant be diverted to mobs but is just a brilliantly cheap 2nd phone line £2 a month line rental, choice of area code , you can also have 2 lines in it so if you work in 2 different towns like me you can get a phone number with that specific area code, the box can go anywhere in the world and can still makes free calls. i dont divert my freephone number it goes straight to answer phone and i just do a ring round at the end of the day. Call me if you want more specific details 01531 660547. Or my website is www.makeandsave.biz

You say you can have 2 lines in it so does this cost £2 per month for both lines?
