I want to get some road grit/salt for next time it freezes up like this. I've seen it sold in  bags  but can't remember where. Does anyone know who sells it?

I realise it will all be gone now but I want to get some for next time.

I phoned b&q last week for some but the council had been that morning and taken loads away because they were short.

Im thinking of doing same thing but only for round my house and street

Try a local DIY store or a builders merchant..
Wicks did have some but you need to ask them if you cant see it.

Yes. I believe one of the local wags nicked a police car to drive home in one night and said the same. S'funny, but the magistrate didn't seem to follow his reasoning and banged him up for a couple of months.

It's probably safer to buy the stuff from your local builders yard.

  well round here the bins are for residents of which i am one to get a bucket of grit for their propertys and i have the commen sence to use a car and only take a bucket at a time, they are on every other street up my way

in our local paper there has been critisism of people
who been using the grit from the bins for clearing
their drives and the roads in front of there homes.

far as im concerned every bit of road or path freed
of snow got to be safer.

if the public wasnt using it,it would be still sat
there i guarantee there wouldnt be any council
workers using it

on my way home there was a lorry paked at the side of the road and a sign saying grit £5 a bag,they wernt very big but the lorry was full,he probley emptied the bins

Thats being flexible and diverse to the situation.

If i could get out my street i would be cleaning more driveways/paths for £5-£10 and if i had salt as there is a shortage i would also offer it for sale. Its making money were the other area of our business (window cleaning) is on its a*se.

I've just been looking into getting a snow plough and grit spreader for the pick-up, could get all the kit for about 2K, wonder if it might be a good add-on to the window cleaning for months like this.

I have a lot of commercial custys with car parks that I could offer the service to.

I know it might be a bit late for this year, but maybe next.
