Enterprise cleaning in Bournemouth called me on Friday , and were most surprised when I told them that thier business model was old hat.  AND that they would be shut down.

This is what I was offered, I wrote it down as he said it so it is fully accurate.

They have a call centre  that gives  each cleaner 20 jobs per week guaranteed.

Customers are offered   any 2 rooms cleaned for £8.99 all in.  It is up to  the cleaner to use thier skills to upsell the job to a higher value.

The cleaner pays £100 a week for hire of a new signwritten van .. berlingo , and rents a porty for £50 a week ,, then has to but prochem chems at a marked up price.
The operator gives the company 40% of gross earnings.

I cant believe they are trying on such a stunt.

I feel a phonecall coming on tomorrow to the relevant authorities as i bet these guys are classed as self employed when really they are employed >:(

Enterprise cleaning operate a great deal in Weymouth / Dorchester area, and we have picked up a number of customers who have been sucked in by the £8 a room ad and then bullied into spending upwards of £150 for all the extras

they seem to overbook themselves aswell and then not turn up to half the appointments which is highly unprofessional and very iritating for the customers.

I heard so many bad stories about them I've thought about reporting them to trading standards

Work it in your favour, put an editorial in your local rag, it'll be free if you can find a customer of theirs that have had a bad experience and then you miraculously come in a put it right but get a reporter to put it in their column, it has so much mileage in that advert you could use it for years.

I was thinking something similar ,, except I was going to say that at £8.99 for 2 rooms all these people were being ripped off ,,,,, Sheffield Shaun will drive down to Bournemouth and do a full house for £4.99!

My problem with all this, is how much are they poisoning our profession?
Customer 'A' uses this type of company and all within shouting distance believe this is what the carpet cleaning industry is all about, making it harder for all of us.
The real winner will be homebase etc who hire those machines out.

Neil this links into my other post. Ive got to agree with you because it all dilutes our business to a certain percentage.

I just seem to be seeing more of it over the past 6 to 12 months.

Exactly Neil

Just like the other thread (New Carpet Cleaners) - why help them, its slowly destroying this industry, where one day we could all be doing cheap work just to pay a bill and have food on the plate. Or simply get a job in Asda's ::)

Ok slightly exagerating, but it has a valid point

hiya
unfortunaely i think there will always be the fly by nights, with their vax machines that will clean a carpet for a fiver just to get their beer money for the pub.
all we can do is be there to try and put it right for the customer when it all goes pear shaped and hope they learn than cheap is definately not worth it.
