I know this subject has been covered many times.
I was going to put my home phone number, as my main business number. But I am worried that people who live 10,, 20 miles away would (NOT) see that has a local company, because the dialing code would be different. Is it worth getting a 0800 number to solve that problem or maybe use a mobile number?

Why not use both? An 0800 number can be piggybacked onto your home number so which ever number your customer rings will come through to your home phone.

I live in the sticks and have 3 other local geo numbers not 0800 but local std codes all linked into my mainline costs me around £6-8 a month depending on call volume.

I've got 3 local numbers - proper local codes in towns around mine. The local numbers work really well and at the end of the month you get the traffic stats on the statement. I got mine with smart numbers and each was £50/year with 50 free minutes - they paid for themselves on xmas eve alone
