I use a triple vac (Alltec Advance) and I'm not too far from you. If you want to see it in action I'll be happy to demonstrate.

My fee's are very reasonable lol.

I heard a whisper that Mytee are bringing one out.

I do like the build quality of Alltec machines but you could save yourself some money Richie and by a vac booster for your Prochem albeit you'll only get the 135psi.

I could not go back to a twin vac now. Did a regular pub for the first time with my Airflex, wand with a glide, knocked an hour and half off the job and used half the water. Carpets drier. I can't think of any negatives at all apart from tripple vacs tend to be heavier with the bigger pump and extra vac. Scorpion is the lightest I think, the airflex tips back and rests on the handle which has wheels so it's easy to get in and out of the van.

Ive used the Scorpion a fair few times now and its a good machine.  It is probably the lightest of all the triple vac portys.  From what i have heard about the Alltech portys they are great.  Ive seen them but never used one.  I know that the look of equipment will not help its performance but when you put a scorpion & the Alltech next to each other the Alltech looks even better.  I dont know much about the Alltech so couldnt give a real opinion about it.  I wish the Scorpion had a heater in it.  If the customer has no hot water then its a case of cleaning with cold unless you buy a inline heater which to be honest i wouldnt because i think they are crap at heating cold water.  The switches on the Scorpion are a point of concern aswell.  Have heard from a few people that have problems with the switches and have to replace them on a regular basis.

Richie.

Re the Scorpion - the only time I have had a problem with the switches is when I have been stupid and allowed the waste water level to get to high and up and into the vac motor it went causing it to spray about in the vac motpr/pump compartment.

Thats is inexcusable with a Scorpion because both tanks are semi translucent so you can see how much clean water you have left, and how high the dirty water is from a distance.

When I changed the 2 switches affected I put some sheeting so that water would not get to the switches if ever I am dim witted again.

The Scorpion is a fine machine and I believe Stuart Clarke has modified his to make it even better. Would love to have a go with it but he lives a bit too far away.

Just a quick note regarding heat and the Scorpian! I have an immersian heater I just drop in when the custys hot water isnt hot enough! its a 3KW adjustasble type! think I would of got rid of my Scorpian now if the heat thing wasnt available

Joe,  2 or 3 people have said they have had problems with the switches. It has been said that the reason for them seizing or bad contact is due to turning the machine on & off with feet instead of hands but i know for a fact that the Scorpion i have used is only switches on/off with hands.  I was wondering if it has something to do with heat onside the machine?

Stuart, are you the guy that has moved the switches from the front of the machine to somewhere else?

Richie.

I have the Scorpian which is really easy to get in and out of a Transit when the need arises.
Not had a problem with the switches yet.
Downside is the No Heater issue, and depending on where you get your info from can be a plus side or a negative, because some believe the hot water naffs up the pump.
2" recovery hose gives great recovery but it is like fighting with a python.
I am currently working on an additional DIY set up that will constantly pump out waste water, away from the actual machine. If I can get this sorted then I will work on a setup to plug into a constant water supply. Yes I know these can be purchased but aren't exactly on the cheap side, so I'll work on it myself.

Richie;

Many thanks for you input on the toggle switches, however, whether an isolated situation, true or just a rumor, I did want to clear up certain aspects of anyone reading and possibly coming to the conclusion that the SCORPION-XPS systems switches are not up to snuff.

First, perhaps the particular and limited models you may be referring to were our older models (Recoil and early Scorpion) . The newer SCORPION-XPS systems (perhaps over the past 2-21/2 years--??) had heavy-duty switches installed that had water proof on the outside exposed areas and are in compliance with the heat and demands of 230-240v systems, as well as our own here in the States.

And, ofcourse, like all switches on all equipment, we have to assume that they will be turned on/off by ones hand and not by ones shoe. However, even if one uses their shoe, it will not hamper the switch unless undue pressure is applied beyond the reasonable force.

We have used thousands of these switches and have had very very good success without complaints (1-3%) or hassles. Therefore, they do have a great proven history.  If it were otherwise, we would have changed years ago.

The very best to all;

Yes Richie it was me who has moved the switches to the top of the machine
they are now housed in a box between the handle but the main reason for doing this was, the Scorpian in the two and a half years that i have owned it has blown five sets of switches, the engineer friend that has made the modifications to the machine is a retired engineer who had previously worked for british earo space, so the guy knows what he is talking about!
he had always said that the standard switches were not up to the specification
hence the fitting of heavy duty switches mounted in such a way that they cannot come into contact with water
