A good tip that some USA cleaners use, is to use a compressor to blow the water system out, that includes pressure lines. They work in temp -20 deg.

oil filled radiator in the back with a small cool-air fan to move the warm air around, works a treat,

Duvet and oil rad for me, running on LPG and would not risk an electric
fan heater, so far so good. But still only minus single figures here

Mine froze earlier this week. Burst a heat x . Luckily that's all. It's made from copper so I managed to solder it. If it had been one of the others I would be in big trouble. I have a greenhouse heater in it now so hopefully it should be ok.

I suppose a fan heater is more of a fire risk than an oil filled rad.  But both make a spark, so if theres a fuel leak it's gonna go whatever!!

I'm glad I sleep in the back bedroom because the van is parked under the window of the front one :D

Mind you the back doors point straight into the lounge window so I hope it doesn't go boom when i'm watching the telly!!

Get an ebersparcher heater, runs on diesel and will keep the machine frost free without any electric cables.

Dave you posted this on truckmounters the other day !!!

Must have been really cold last night, the ebersparcher ran both the van batteries down and the t/m which I've connected direct to the van ones.  Had to jump start the van this morning and the hose connectors were frozen. The wand also had slightly frozen and even the new h/m filter box had ice in it. Luckily the t/m was OK. Took about 1/2 hr to get it all working, but very lucky no damage. Odd thing is I had charged the batteries up Sunday.

Your right, and I'm charging it up each day for 4 or 5 hours to make sure it keeps going, Where I live cant leave cables across footpath when dark, but still better than oil filled heaters etc. Normally lasts for 3 or 4 days during "Normal " winters.

Good news, my TM seems to be ok after thawing. It's warmer in the back of the van than the Caribbean now and can only pray for no power cuts!!
Just done 3 flood jobs and this is all before the thaw begins ;D
