how to drain a merlin r.o

im surprised how many people shell out ££££ on a r.o system, when you can get a merlin for £300?
plus they only cost £20 every 3-4 months in filters?
anyway back to the topic. dont know why its taken so long to work out but, realised i could hook up my pump to the merlin where the water enters (clear tube) and just switch on, gets most of the water out, and if it does freeze wont damage it, i do wrap it in a space blanket for extra peace of mind.
this might work for other systems?

good idea and tip
I used to use a merlin and in answer to that question of why spend more ?
being on a water meter the waste ratio was terrible plus my product tds was still around 35 ppm, buying an hf5 4040 upped my production speed and tds quality and saved me money on water bill and resin.
I could have improved the pressure by adding a pump but add that to the £300 and youve almost spent the same as you would with an hf5 anyhow.
If any merlin users out there are in need of a spare housing (no pre-filter or membranes) I have one for sale in the buy/sell section and open to any offers.
