Will i have to pay wages if no work?

Hi guys does anyone know if i will have to pay wages as i have told my lad this morning no work and likely to be the same tommorow with the weather how its been.

just pay half to keep him going , the weather is going to change , then you can catch up .

Depends on his contract of employment. 
My lad's is for 16 hours per week, so that is what I have to pay even if no work for the week.
