I reverted back to trad for one job yesterday and had to give up as my cloths were freezing like boards as i was using them.  Any (sensible   ;D  ) tips from regular trad guys very welcome.

Pete if my hoses are freezing up at a customers house, surely ladders would be out of the question due to the risk of it slipping?
Not having a go, just highlighting the safety problems with using ladders in these conditions.

Why do we have to keep having this debate.

Both methods have there place in our business and I for one will always you my trad skill.

With the benefits of WFP I have gone on to win much larger jobs which give me the money to carry on through these bad periods.

I still use ladders at times in the ice but always use my ladder legs and ladder mitts which stop the ladder slipping.

I did a gutter job before xmas on a ice deck using them and felt safe as houses on them

Matt

I would use rubber matting underneath.  I did this before Xmas when the tarmac was frozen - just to get a particular job out of the way.  Screenwash in bucket too.  No chance at the moment though.  Snow piling down and settled.  Hot chocolate, tidy up my flat, finalise accounts paperwork, and a bit of TV.  Can get away with it for another week or so but after that, I may have to do some expensive borrowing with credit card in cashpoint.  Fortunately, I have a stockpile in the freezer and cupboard so I could avoid shopping for a month so long as I get some fresh fruit in.
