New Winter Service
« on: January 05, 2010, 08:01:50 pm »
Thinking of offering driveway and path shovelling service to customers and general public.

Charge around £5 - meet new potential wc customers and provide a solution to a problem for many people.

What do you think?

Don't want to sound like a killjoy, but in today's sue-happy culture, what would happen if you cleared someone's path/driveway etc, then someone happened to slip over and get hurt? Who would be liable?

I was not having a go, D. Ward. I appreciate that you, like all of us, need to make a living and I say fair play to you for coming up with new ideas. I was merely trying to draw your attention to a possible drawback which may be worthy of consideration. If you decide to go ahead with your idea, I am not trying to stop you, but rather I genuinely hope it works well for you.

You are quite safe from being sued by me for two reasons:
1. Unless you live or work near me I will not be falling over on any path that you
    clear.
2. When I fall over, I don't reckon that anyone else but myself is to blame.

What do you think?

In my opinion, it is safer to walk on snow rather than try to clear it and leave a layer of ice which would be dangerous. Unless you intend to grit it afterwards.
