Hi John,

Just fishing really to see if anybody has similar machines. How has yours been for reliability? Mine has been very reliable other than little things but it does seem to go through alot of 240 sensors and is currently  playing up with the usual problem ( ie ram opening & closing between 180-240)

Hi Henry,
              Mines been pretty good really, I've changed a few parts over the years when servicing,sounds like the air switch could be playing up with you(the switch that is connected by the rubber tube to the ram)? I changed mine last year when it was doing the same thing,(or it could be the rubber pipe perished and cracked?) I've changed a couple of ignition switches, 2 rams and the rubber drive coupling.

Hi Henry,
              when my ram has worn out it seems to have score marks on it causing it to leak air. I often have calls for me to go to west wales but it's too far for me to go, usually tenby, pembroke, haverfordwest and cardigan way. Do you cover those areas? I'll send them your way if you do! I get them because our yellow pages covers such a huge area!

Hi Henry.  I was the guy that came over & collected the Hydrofoil.  Ive not spoken to Bob for years now due to a falling out.  Last time i saw his van was about 3 years ago but there was 2 guys in it that i didnt recognise.  Hows things for you?

Nice to hear from you. I've since let the unit for the valeting and am just running the Carpet Cleaning side from home. Much better life and more free time, however at the moment things seem very quiet. I guess everybody is still recovering from xmas.

Good to hear youve got spare time on your hands.  I remember you talking about getting rid of or getting someone to run the valeting side of things. I take it the 494 has served you well sionce upgrading from the Hydrofoil.  Is there much difference in performance between the two?

Hi Richie,
I've wanted out of the valeting for sometime and was offered a rent I couldn't refuse.
The 494 has been very reliable and is definately a better machine than the Hydofoil giving out alot more heat and suction. However if I was changing today I think it would be a Hydramaster- Titan looks the biz but couldn't warrant that machine for the amount of work I do.
What machine are you running?

Are you aware that Hydramaster now make a smaller version of the Titan.  Simon Gerrard has the Titan 875 Powered by a 61 horsepower GM Vortec 1.6 litre, fuel injected engine and a Tuthill 5009 tri-lobe blower. That is the DADDY of truckmounts.  Simon has run 4 (FOUR) RX20s of it.  The smaller one is a Titan 575 Powered by a Powered by a 31hp Daihatsu liquid cooled engine and a 4007 Dominator Tri-Lobe blower

We are running a Hydramaster Crossfire 4.2.  Its a old unit (about 15 years old). Powered by a 20hp air cooled Honda engine & a Roots 45 blower.  Its a dual wand capable machine but not used it as a dual wand unit for many years.  We also use a Scorpion portable and LM system.  To be honest most the work we do is either LM system or the portable.  The truckmount is only used on the night clubs & pubs.

Is there a market for a second hand 494 (and I also bought a complete stripped down machine from Chemspec for spares (blown engine) only 700 hrs)

The Titan 575 that Glynn has on its way from the States is for Glynn to use.  I believe it will be the first one in the UK.  Give Hydramaster UK a call for the price.  It may be worth asking them about part exchange on your 494.  Find out how much they would be willing to offer you but dont expect much.  Shaun contacted them regarding the part exchange of his Boxxer 427 that is only 18 months old and he was told it was worth 75% less than he paid for it.  Alternatively try selling the 494 either on here, Truckmounters.com or on ebay.
