pump for RO
« on: December 30, 2009, 10:41:58 pm »
evening all.
looking for some more pressure to my RO system to get the tds down a bit and dont really have the cash floating about for a booster pump just yet.

pressure in the RO says 50psi and im getting the water down the 15ppm from 375ppm. had a diy outside tape fitted so ripped that out and got the plumber in to get a proper one in. that increased the pressure by a huge 0PSI :'(

what i do have lying around is a pump tho, i thinks its 65psi. i also have a 125l tank not being used.
am i able to have the pump suck from the 125l tank and feed it at 65psi to RO or am i just being silly ans asking to bugger the pump?
thanks

if its rated at 65 psi , it should work

no problems, if it does cut out you can adjust the pressure switch

what RO do you have? your pump might not have a flow rate high enough to keep up with it, in which case the PSI is irrelevant.

375 down to 15 is not bad.  A 4.5lt resin bottle will last a long time polishing that down to 0.  I wouldn't worry about it.

How much do you need to produce a day?

the RO system is one from pure water products and is a 6 stage 300gpd system.

i dont need a huge amount of water as at the moment im only washing once or twice a week as im only part time at the moment until my round starts to improve/grow.

i would just ideally like to get it to single figure before putting it through a DI, without spending much money
thanks for the replys

Thats why we do not buy from ebay. You have not saved any money now.

A DI resin will polish the water and should get that down easily to single figures. You could also add a water softener.
