They work brilliant if you have good water pressure from the tap,.. 55-60 psi minimum. Any lower and you'll need a booster pump which can be costly for a merlin.

I have one in the garage and it produces enough to fill and 850 ltr tank in about 4 hours each night.

Of course. You have to put DI after the Merlin.

Andy - yes you will need a Di vessel

i fill 400 ltrs in 4 hours - but i do use a booster pump to get 70 PSI water pressure

Not necessarily a booster pump.  It depends on requirements.  I get about 30 - 35 litres per hour from mine at a TDS of around 015 once it's settled down.  Resin polishes it off.  The pressure is around 35 - 40 PSI.  I'm a sole trader and it meets my needs.  I agree that it's far from optimum performance and would be no good for supplying two vans on a regular basis - but I do get by on it.

6 bar is approx 85psi which is ideal for ro performance. Are you filling a van or static system with it?

Personally would not use merlin. If van would go for 4040. Static 300gpd ro-man type unit (£200 from soap national). You will likely get away without having to use resin as that high pressure should give very low tds.

I use a 300gpd unit which produces around 700 litres a day and water comes out around 003-004 (200 in). My water pressure is 50-55psi. You should get better performnce as your water pressure is higher, unless membrane or pre-filters need changing.

4040 is around £450 plus I think which is why I like the small ro-man units as they work well and membranes are cheaper.

Ionics are doing a champ housing and a HF5 membrane for £300 plus vat and £15 delivery. No booster pump required, but you would need pre-filters and di. Or have a word with Ste and see if you can purchase his 4040.
