iwas out a week or so doing an old victorian house front whith a sloping porch roof whith grey slates ,which where dry, when it started to rain shi#~~~ i said to my self i was stuck. it was like a ice rink it was a larg roof to to get a cross wi out falling so for a bit of quick thinking out of my bat man utility belt i pulled out my scrims and spread them out to walk on brilliant, thougt id pass this on incase any body gets caught out. as any body got any get out of sh~t tips apart from dont do trad

I've been caught out on pitched roofs before and its scary; don't do it; fella.  If you can't get to the window without being 'spiderman', don't do them, otherwise you'll end up like Freddy Flintstone.

Besides which, those thin slates are about as thick as beermats.  I'm sure I'd crack a few if I tried that.

  I got stuck on a roof once, not slates - don't walk on them!!

  A pitched roof above a garage, got to the top, did the window then couldn't get down as didn't have enough grip going back down, ended up taking my boots off and chucking them down and came down in my socks.

I did the same last winter and laid my scrims down after see it on here somewhere.

After that I got my pole system sorted out, never again.

I did something similar years ago with my scrim although the roof wasn`t very steep. I had the bright idea of putting my scrim down first before cleaning the window, to get a bit of grip. Worked ok until the damp roof soaked through the scrim, rendering it useless, so no grip and i had a slight wobble.
   Luckily, I got back on the ladder in one piece with the window cleaned but wouldn`t recommend it.

i dont see the problem in gtting on roofs,in fact i showed a mate how i can hand stand on a sloping roof,
i feel,sorry hang on a minute(no nurse im very comfortable thank you) i cant really remember after that

i never stand on  slates or the little square red ones.too dangerous.flat roofs ok if not iced up!i have been on a roof before now and ladders have blown over leaving me stranded on the roof!!ha!ha! : ;Dive got a bit more sense now!
