RO Problem - high tds readings
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:23:55 pm »
I have a problem that I just cannot work out.

I have a 150g per day RO-Man system with 2 pre filters at the bottom, 2 membranes above and just 1/2 litre resin vessel to polish off.

I have just replaced all the filters throughout and found that the tds readings are very high.

It all goes like this.......

Mains water inlet show 330 ppm same on the way out and into the membranes. Out of the membranes is a reading of 45-50 and into the resin which then shows 0 ppm.

I tested the water after 24hrs and the product water was reading 30 ppm.

I have checked and re-checked all the plumbing, flushed and re-flushed all still the same. I have now flushed away 1500ltrs of useless product water.

FYI - water pressure is around 45. I discarded 10 gallons of water after first fitting the new filters.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

I think what you're describing sounds about right. If you want to halve the tds or more you will need to buy a booster pump.

have you changed the membranes?
if so you will find the tds will drop slightly as more water has been passed through.
how many membranes do you have?
could be one or two things give me a call and ile talk you through
