Hi all,

I'm in Norfolk my company has been going for 5 years now and growing healthily. I used to work regularly 7 days a week, christmas mornings, new years day, bank holidays etc to build my business. I have now reached the stage were i have the support in place where this no longer necessary although i do on occasion work a saturday if it suits me ( e.g. its my son birthday this week so i'm having the day off and putting the hours in Saturday instead.

In the early days of your business your effort will far outweigh your financial gain but hang in there because by year 3 to 5 your be laughing.

Cheers Mark.

Quite happy to work any day unless I have something specifically planned.  I think it is important to work round the customer,

I will only work Sundays and Bank holidays at a premium, I also add that includes nights! The same also applies to my commercial cleaning and contact side!

got to say , this is one of the reasons i am starting out on my own, i work from the  crack of dawn to twlights , days, all night till morning, bank hols every week end all for a job with a name , for little more then the min wage and bacis rate on bank/sun , i am not moaning cos i love it, but if i have the hassle and greif along with a job well done and long hrs 24hr call i might as well do it for myself ,sorry gone off on one again .

Me too on the anything goes scale...........my wife and I have been building the business up since November 2004, and work, days, nights, sundays, bank holidays...no problem.

We do charge a premium rate for b/h and night rates tho, and the customers are happy to pay it....

Regards

I suppose I am lucky (or not however you want to look at it). As I am in domestic cleaning I only work weekdays (and if a job lands on a Bank Hol then we don't work unless customer specifically requests it then it's charged at double rate!

Having said that I am about to start a (1 hour an) evening (Mon - Fri) in an office that is across the road from where I live! I wouldn't normally do it, but it's local and I am charging a quid more than my usual dom rate! Tops up the old pocket money!  ;D

Hi !

It's been ages since I've managed to get back on to this forum, very busy at mo (yellow pages definately works for me!), Jan and all hope you're keeping well!

I follow the same rule of thumb as Jan although we do two evenings cleaning communal areas in an apartment block, again however if this falls on a bank hol we would move it to the following/prior evening.

I would be happy to make the odd exception on a saturday morning if it suited but certainly NOT regularily!

Regards

Maggie :)

hey Maggie, long time, no speak!

Been a while since I've been on here too, with me being busy too. Seems the ironing side of things is the most called for service at the mo! Cleaning side of things is a bit quiet, tho' I picked up a new Client yesterday, it's the first new clean for a few months!

Been quite nice to have a break, but needs must and all that!

Glad you are busy too......!

hi, im from wales and i just started so i will work any time day or night. It is probably not important when a job is done in most cases so depends on circumstances. Sundays should be emergencies only........lol
