So what is our alternative or is it possible to purchase this system without being a member of Chem dri

Whats your concern? - the mold thing?
You will only get that if you leave a carpet wet for days.

If you have a good machine and good operator technique there is no reason to leave carpets wet for days - they scaremongoring.

The rotary floor tool they using looks like a Hydramaster RX20 - that leaves the carpet pretty dry if used correctly. But so does a wand if used correctly.

Why would you want to buy it and at greatly inflated expense (about £20 to fill a 50litre portable with their solution)?

You can buy carbonated chems in America ,, but as they are not any more effective than what you can buy here ,, what would the point be ?

On that video its safe to assume the water pressure was way too high for carpet when they were slagging off HWE - probably running it from a truckmount at a pressure suited for hard floor - have you ever cleaned a carpet with so much pressure its blowing out water from the carpet like that? You have just proven what Chem Dry is all about - MARKETING, you are a carpet cleaner and they have you believing their system is better!!!

As far as i am aware - they just run a normal portable HWE machine but at the tool end air is introduced to carbonate it - i spoke to an ex Chem Dry franchise who went independant and he said the first thing he ditched was the Chem Dry machine!! At the end of the day, if its so important to use that system, then why do the NCCA state HWE to be the industries recognised deepest and best method of cleaning (where suitable)? Why dont they insist on carbonating HWE?

i would stick to your own machine so long as its a good un - there is no substitue for a trained cleaner who will use the correct solutions, correct method and correct pressures etc in accordance to the fabric present.  

Dont get mixed up with 'our system is unique and best', stick to vacuum, prespray, agitate, rinse and groom and you wont go far wrong no matter what the system!

PS - did you get a quote off their site too? do a quote for a leather suite with protection - OUCH!! Not complaining though, they do a good job of keeping up the prices for us independants!!!

No there was no real concern. It is just that I do see regularly Chem dry vans etc so I know that people are being drawn in by there marketing.

Its not that I dont have any work, I do. But I would like to expand at a greater speed than what we are. So I thought about Chem dri and what they use.

At the moment, on the replies it does not look like thats the way to go.

One of them is a mate of mine am sure you have passed him on your travels he will be only to willing to sell you some chemicals too try, some of ServiceMaster’s is also very good.

Home Depot is the USA version of B&Q.  Interesting point about Rug Doctor - they bought ChemDry but didn't stop promoting DIY carpet cleaning.

I no where you coming from did a job last week only reason i got it was due to chem-dry being booked up till after xmas there is now 3 of them around belfast when i was talking to customer he asked me why did i not offer chem-dry aswell as hwe when i told him there not much difference he then asked what the difference was to be honest i could not tell him as dont really no how there machines work just had to bluff a bit but at least when he seen the job i done on his carpet he was real happy and took some cards to pass on to others

Dont forget....Chem Dry are now using Truckmounts supplied via Hydramaster but the system is modified and still uses fizzy water 
They have the Truckmounts limited to about 400psi i believe.

Yes it is an RX20 , it has 2 inlets for the 2 separate solutions , and the vac slots are "optimized" meaning small holes instead of one long slot

The word DRY is very powerful. Thats why they have used it.

The name Chem-dry , is because the process is apparently "dry" of chemicals, This is straight from Robert Harris' mouth,  not true though , because spotters, reducers and water used can all be classed as chemicals.

Well if all they r doing diffrent is using fizzy water then we can just fit a SodaStream to r machines and claim the same

The thing is though with Chem Dry......it seems that they have always mis-lead the public with their name as it has never been in any way a DRY system.  Regarding the system that they used (the pad system) they always slagged off HWE, I used to go to quite a few customers that had used Chem Dry and were not happy with the clean because they could still see dirt in the carpet. People thought that because they were paying a premium price they would get a premium job done but this was not the case.  Having seen pictures of Chem Dry totally transforming commercial carpets i wondered how they could do it with the pad system,  we were working in Hull many years ago at a night club,  across the road was a Chemy Dry guy cleaning some office carpets.  We had a chat & he explained that there was NO WAY that he could get the carpets in the night club i was cleaning anywhere near as clean as our truckmount was doing  .
