How much!
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:20:23 pm »
I went to give a customer a quote on Friday, lounge diner hall stairs and landing a total of 412 sq ft plus the stairs which i quoted £30 on top, came out £174 @ 0.35 pence per sq ft.
She replied, thats a bit more than the other two that quoted, i then went on to explain the process i used and how long i expected to take in cleaning her carpets, at the end i asked her if she minded telling me how much the other two quotes were.
the first guy wanted £120 and the second guy wanted £40 :o  i nearly fell of the chair! £40 i said she laughed and said mad isnt it i asked her how long they said it would take she replied oh 30 min i think they said
it was one of those leaflets that came through my door but i was surprised by the price as it takes me that long to vacuum.
what on earth do they do i almost want to get them to come and do my lounge just so i can see what they do.
I booked the lady in for 22nd December the other odd thing was she said "i will tell my husband you are charging £150 and pay you the extra when you arrive" ;)

No such luck she just told her husband how much it would probably cost and did not want to explain why it would cost more, i did recently have customer say "the carpets upstairs" then proceed to walk up in front of me wearing her almost see through dressing gown :o ;D  :-[ :-[ i hardly knew where to look she then went on to show me the "stains" on her bedroom carpet it was   like a "carry on film" :-[   oooh missis

Mr.Powell honestly! please can you cancel my carpet cleaning appointment with you!! all because you have a big machine now :-*

Now anyone that does charge more than £40 will get this answer from a customer but the trick is how you answer it, some will not be bothered, some may think about what you have said and some you may have just tipped the balance and that is where you have to sell a bit better or reduce the price a little, if you don't have loads of work then the latter could be worth it.
