Just got to do the van floor (done the sides of ply and wheel arch covers with shed paint) Is water resistant so should stop the smell.)

ive just finally got my plylining finished and i put my first coat of protecktakote on it today, bloody hell that stuff gets you as high as a kite , hopefully another coat going down in the next few day and then i can fit my set up next weekend. icant wait to be totally WFP

I cant wait. Shed paint has done wonders on the ply on the sides etc. Going to use garage floor paint or pond/pool paint for the floor to save cash over the protekta kote.

I cant wait either, other than I have to wait till wednesday to order my pole 

Hopefully no more problems come up or gardiners dont sell out!!

What set up have you gone with mate, Or what parts/equipment you using if diy?

ive got a purefreedom 650 ltr set up, bought it off one of the lads on here last week, ive been using a backpack for a few months so i know how good wfp is. what about you? whats set up you gone for?

I protecta kote'd my van floor on thursday,then went on to fitting tank brackets on friday/saturday,I found this to be a f***ing nightmare,used my mates workshop with a pit in,god knows it would of been a real struggle without it,I have started to think that getting a engineering firm to design/fit a suitable anchoring system would of been a far more cost effective way of doing it,I am hoping to just fit/connect hoses to my tank and pump tomorrow and buy some ratchet straps(hopefully from a local supplier) then try it out in the afternoon/tuesday,The costs just keep adding up,but am sure once its up and running the spending will be minimal(I hope!)

what were the problems you had fitting it? also did you do two coats of paint? how long did it take to dry?

I went with a Hf5 4040 ro, 35" di, 350 ltr tank, 1000ltr static tank. 6mm microbore, 100psi flojet and ecoflo, And ordering the slx25.

Chopsie know what you mean about it adding up, I keep thinking, this much more and im done! Wrong. lol. Keeps going. Almost there now, just the final little bits, but they add up!

Getting bars welded across the back of my van tuesday to hold the tank in place, Nothing to major, but should do.

And one thing im not too sure about is hose. If I have my van parked, Am i ok to drag hose 50 up the path two a house ten houses away?

Yes I did 2 coats,It took roughly 2 hours to dry,I was surprised as it was a cold damp day,then I hit it with a second coat around 5pm and left it over night to dry.the problems i had was where and how to fix to chassis,also locating all the supplies i needed,I was running around half the day buying bits,then the bloody drill bit(16mm) which I bought for £20 went blunt and that just screwed me up for hours,I just got as much as i could ready without it until my mate got back(I could not leave his workshop open and go buy another one for yet more money in case something got nicked while i was gone,as he had not left me any keys).I used threaded bar and thick angle to construct a fitting around the chassis in the four corners where the tank will sit,then drilled a hole in the angle in the van where a ratchet strap will hopefully fit.Anyway my mate came back,and his worker knew how to sharpen drill bits and they both gave me a hand so we soon finished it off then,But i think an engineering firm could of done a better job,lots quicker for not a great deal of money.

right i always get shot down for this :, but i think its a least twice as quick on the work i do no joke, dont think you will solely only ever use wfp again though. i did some comercial work on friday and went back over it with trad as the wfp didnt give the finish wanted.

the only thing i would say about the hose is to get a sign warning people, that way you cover yourself slightly if someone trips over it, i will be dragging my hose everywhere though and leaving my van locked up, i have 100 metres coming this week from gardiners.

i thought the paint took days to go off so thats good news what you have said there, did you use a roller or paint brush? i will do my second coat tomorrow and then fit the L shaped plastic that i have bought to go up against the sides.

I have made some plates to go under my chassis and i have also got myself some 200mm bolts to go through the chassis and into the cab. the only thing as you say is lining it up properly. Im good with a tape measure though so i should sort this no problem. need to get my drill bit though so i may get that tomorrow so that im ready for fitting asap, then its just a case of wiring it all up to the van battery

I hope its not too late!

Oh bugger. Ive left it over night an wont get back till bout 4 today. Hopefully the cold weather wont of helped it go off so will be ok as i wouldnt like to strip it back

its ok i hope, it said on the instructions that you can just rub it down lightly and then re-coat, all done now so all i have to do is wait till the weekend and i can fit the tank. going to make a template though and then i can drill the holes in the floor so once the tank goes in i can just bolt it up straight away. im out sat night and then at the match all sunday so i inoy have sat morning to get it done

it was mainly the doors of the buildings where peoples hands have been on the glass, i found that i couldnt get rid of them with the brush so had to go trad, not a big problem but just goes to show that wfp aint the answer to everything

i was thinkin this today, i should of took pics of my van before during and after, im now at the stage where all my van is insulated and plylined and the floor is painted. still need to ply the doors and then build the arches in and build a few little storage points as well as fitting all my tanks and poles.

How did you get on with the wiring and also have you gone for external ports?

I am making my own external ports.
I have made my own ply lining and boxes have been done, With access hatches to access hiden taps etc. Got straps to hold my dit pump box in, made a custom ro/ pre filter stand. Making a battery/charger box this weekend.
Lay some rubber matting in places....

Wiring so far been a doddle to be honest, not much of it. Making runners to hold hoses all true and square to pump box. Everything has to be very linear and neat lol.

Only thing is, all this effort and the thing may die in a week (van that is). Although if it does will just go out and get one of the newer diesel lumps and spend a weekend putting that in.

Are you just going to drill holes through the floor and put gromets around the hose as it goes out? i guess there is not much wiring to be done as its really just the wires to the battery?
