Credit Cards part 2
« on: December 05, 2009, 09:46:00 am »
For those interested the first month of offering mobile card payments the machine took £530.00. It saved me time in paying in cheques and getting to the bank. It might just the novelty factor, i don't know, would i have got these jobs without offering this payment, i don't know?? For the 1st month i don't think its bad.  :-\

Paul

Did you take the payments on line whilst at the customers, or did you process them when you got home?

What fees did you incur for the rent of the terminal and also for processing the payments? Did everybody pay you be credit card or were some of the transactions debit cards instead?

I processed them on site with a mobile card machine, it was a mixture of cards, both credit and debit. It cost's £35.00 per month incl airtime and charges.

Its a good idea, as many do not simply have the cash ready at hand.

Stick it on the card - 60 days to pay off (or whatever) especially useful to those that have low interest or 0% cards for purchases.

You can market the card payment as a good way to pay, as they will also collect air miles and whatever the deals are these days.

Paul23 - who did you go with? Sorry i may have missed the 1st thread on this.

Just phoned up.. via the FSB

Long term 36 months contract

Set Up Fee + Delivery of the Unit is £25.00

Monthly rental incl air time is £22.50

If you decide to buy the unit..

£400 to purchase the unit

£25 set up and delivery fee.

Need to set up a merchant bank, which is linked to your own business back (they do all this for you), and this is for face to face and over the phone payments method.

The merchant bank charges you..

Mastercard 2% per Transaction

Visa Credit 1.8% per Transaction

Visa Debit @ 35p per Transaction.

However i forgot to ask if those amounts included VAT  ::)

Something worth looking at for sure.

I think you will find the merchant bank have a min charge, this varies, i found streamline the cheapest of £10 p/month. It does take about a month to get it all up and running.
