My home is my office.  I have no problem with people knowing where I live, after all, there's always at least one sign written van parked outside ::)

Check out my site - my address is on there.

From the custy's point of view if they don't know who you are or where you live, have you got something to hide?

If our custy's (or prospective custy's) want to contact us, they know exactly where to find us.

I think its actually a legal requirement for your full postal address to be included in all advertising, including your website. It also helps to instil confidence in potential customers that you are legit, local & have nothing to hide. IMO not showing your address does look a tad unprofessional,... but its easy for me to say as I've never had any hassle from "Rival" cleaners.

thanks guys.

haven't got any problems with people having my addres and most of my custy's have,

it's on my bills i leave when people are out.

Never had any problems with other window cleaners, but never door knocked, only leaflets.

But i suppose you can't worry about others, not out to undercut anyone.

got asked the other day about cleaning a bungalow friday, in a road i do 3 in.

Double fronted 6 pane bays, old fashioned square lead, 2 dormer windows in roof, odd side window.

round back lounge window, door, kicthen window and door.

I'd charge £15 all maybe £20 if some had to be done by hand as old leads may have the white putty stuff exposed which just marks glass wfp.

Present w/c trad charges them £30 :o  calls 6 weekly. (he doesn't do dormer windows either)

So, was wondering if someone asks me for a price at the door when i'm knocking i might be under cutting even charging a fair rate.

Oh well, i have got some boxing gloves, best keep them in the van.  ;D

it might be illegal not to

BUT

you will not have the " you havent put your address on your website eforcement officer " calling around

why you ask ? ? ? ? ?

because they do not exisit

if you dont want your address on the web site, dont put in on it, its your choice

personally i wouldnt bother, if a e.mail addres, phone number and fax number ( if you have 1 ) isnt enough, then tough

thanks matt.

I might start wearing a zorro mask at work so no-one no's my true identity :D

I'l probably put where i'm based on website, then say all custy's have our full contact details including address, in FAQ section.

I had workmen in house before electricains builders etc and you'd be suprised how all you have are contact numbers.

I must add these workmen were recomended.
