In a bit of a panic now! Did a quote without seeing a job(which i dont like to do) for a friend of a friend for his office carpet 300 sqm, all carpet tiles. He says theres no need to move furniture, thought bonnet/micro splitting technique would suit, not done that method yet, thought it was a good a time as any to give it a go.
Anyway, the price, its a bit of a treck away and just havnt had a chance to get out there. Rather than loose the contract i just said a day rate of £280?
Im still new to pricing my own jobs and am now thinking ive missed an opportunity here to make a decent fee?!?!

I did a job just like that the other day for similar money and like you I haven't done a lot of bonneting and saw it as paid practice.

I've looked at other jobs and quoted £2-3 / meter because they were far more involved. Your problem is you don't know what you are letting yourself in for. What do you do if you haven't finished in a day because there is an unforseen problem that slows the job down?

My problem with commercial has been companies slipping deadlines and either they ring you up and say don't come in or you turn up and there's a Chippy using a circular saw on the carpet you were supposed to be cleaning.

£2/£3 sq mtr for offices is OK so long as not too many probs. All offices I've done have been carpet tiles, really quick,easy work. Trouble with setting a low price to begin with is that next time they require cleaning guess what price they will expect? As with domestic; discounts for quantity go down well!! IMO

Well i earnt more doing an EOT three bed on Saturday(took 3 1/2 hours), but didnt realy know where to begin with a commercial quote?! £3 a sqm seemed there or there abouts?

your never too dear or too cheap its all a learning curve and pricing for what your happy with and how much work you may have and how much work you want!

If you can get £2 - £3 for commercial work you doing very well IMO.
I have lost jobs at £1.40 and even £1.20.
Did 750sqyd other week for £1, but the boss man upped it to £1.20 cause he heard I was doing a good job and I was willing to be flexible with starting tomes - 2 days at 6:30am

Those rates for commercial are non existent round here due to the economy at present and the cut throat tendency with commercial
