Most Popular Cleaner / Prespray Combo?
« on: December 03, 2009, 03:12:57 pm »
I'm just a "rosey nosey" but just wondering what the most popular products for HWE residential carpet cleaning in the UK? We have so many choices in the US, but I would assume the one of the huge distributors like Interlink or Jon Don's private line product would be the winner. I'm a Bane cleaner, and think they have some of the best products, I also use CTI's product line for my spotters. I also have a CCS machine (orbital pad machine) and use Vacaway's encapsulation products for commercial jobs.

I have made this a study, and I'm putting a book together to help new people in the business. I love helping people with their businesses!       -Jonny

I too have met Mr. Bane, he really is an inspiration!  Why do you think they have become less popular over the years in the UK?

I have had 2 banes and they were the most reliable machines I have ever had, I moved across to a petrol TM because of water pressure and vacuum, Spurgeons who are the UK distributor were good to deal with but I believe the UK voltage is different to the US and we get less power.

Dave Ingram had my old megaport and he was going to put a 1000psi pump obviously down rated to less for carpets and also he was going to put a slow start on it so that the revs could be increased for the blower.

If I had to have one now I would want the above but would use the componants without the small water tank and plumb it straight from the large water tank and also I would have like to pre heat the water with the blower exhaust like the perfect heat machines do.

Food for thought but if all of these could be done I would buy one tomorrow.

I have the Perma Mount 70......its a great dependable machine. I have also had a US made fire breather too........in comparision, yes less water pressure, vac, and heat......but it is all equal. I spent so much money keeping the fire breather running, so when it was time to replace it, I went the Bane Clene Way. I'm very happy with my unit, and the economics keeps me liking it.

I agree the Banes are excellent machines they just need pimping a bit, it's a shame that Bane clene don't offer slight changes based on what people would like I'm sure it would yield more sales, even if the changes aren't what Mr Bane may believe in or advises the customer at the end of the day can have what he/she wants and I'm sure there's something to be learned on the way for everyone.

Johnny could you post a pic of your good old Bane I am actually pining to see an existing one i really do miss my Bane.

We have 100s of different pre-sprays here in the UK.  Personally i think that Prochem offer the best in general although there are others i like.

When I first got hold of my elderly Bane, I was amazed at how good it was. Although the pump is only capable of around 200 psi, it seems more and the Sutorbilt blower is powerful enough to run over 100 feet from the van.

My reason for getting it was to allow me to keep working a bit longer.

My only problem has been with the pump which has a crack in one half of the casing and to replace it would cost around £1000 which, unfortunately I can't really justify.

Same as Shaun
Had 2 Bane machines for 10 years before moving over to petrol/diesel powered machines.
They were very reliable and quiet machines but just lacked in water pressure, heat (unless you wound the thermostat up on the main water tank)and vacuum on long hose runs.

Wheres the pics Jonny?

My girl friend has my camera, and she will be home this evening. I will snap some shots in my garage this evening proving there is enough light.

I would doubt that cast housing is very expensive, I know they have many distributors under the Monyo name in the US. The closest distributor is like 4 hrs away in Memphis........I can be to the Bane's back door in Indy in about 5 hrs. I'm sure you could just transfer the guts from the housing to the new housing......I would repace the stator and support ring and throughly inspect the universal joint if it has been sitting for a while. I hope its a simple fix for ya!
