You'd have to save several minutes at the end of each job to recoup £29k ::) ::)

The trailer set-up on eBay is the same as I have except I don't have the water reclaim. There is one like this in the UK, but it has had it's problems with the reclaim side of things, if you were to go for this email me and I'll give you the low-down on the reclaim, all fix-able just the americans don't quite understand our paving (block paving esp) so it caused some problems.
Still a good price for what is in the trailer though.

Hi Gutterman
did post exactly the same question vacuum recovery system with a fsc never got a reply I think the main problem might be dragging 2inc vacuum hose around.

As for vacuum and recovery is very handy cuts time down especially if a patio is surrounded by walls and a driveway sloping towards the house etc.
I just put the vacuum hose with attachment at the lowest point and pumped into flower beds or on-site drain.
I would suggest you have a look at these two old threats.

I wouldnt mind one of these - 11K - Lowest price upto 30k with a vacuum recovery system
http://www.getridofgum.com/chewing_gum_removal.html
If chewing gum contracts materialise will probably sell up existing set up including gutter vac etc
and invest in this or similar set up.
Have probably spent around 10 k on current set up.
Looking to have dual operation to improve output 1 wand on chewing gum removal the other on fsc performing general clean up

i would check but most dual lance machines will run two lances but not one lance and a whirlaway the reason being if using two lances they use a smaller jet size which gives the same psi but lowers the waterflow which is fine for gum removal and small area cleaning but if you attach a whirlaway and one lance then the waterflow isnt enough to run the whirlaway, i do beleive this could be overcome by running two pumps and two burners but i think the machine you highligted has only one.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

That's pretty spot on Trevor, my tralier can run 2 lances at the same time but not a FSC and lance. You could run 2 FSC's at the same time but you would need 8 GPM pump or better.

nice machine gutterman but are those chewy boxes really needed on the end of the lances/?

think im going to get the hot box you have from taybur as its the cheapest option.

can you turn the heat up and down on it/?

Roger/ Trevor thanks for the advice will bear that in mind
Like the idea of dual operation - given some of the jobs i expect to get could take 6months or more.
May consider leasing before buying
Currently have two hot boxes - various pressure washers etc - storage is an issue - also like the idea of a self contained unit.
Current hot box Machine is fitted with a flo switch-  low pressure steam, extremely hot, higher pressure cooler water, they can fit a thermostat if required.

Not used chewing gum attachment - no need except to contain residue.

Most jobs i have been involved in have started at 2000hrs to early morning.
I also have a dry steam machine which means effectively i could work during day, but i usually fsc area once gum has been removed and apply protection almost immediately whilst damp.

Visited wigan town centre last week, plagued with the stuff - did a 400sqm area last year, still looks ok, but a lot of councils have no money due to recession etc. Not top of there priority list.
Current weather situation -- not gritting as they use to , again saving money

Still hoping for work to materialise this year .

Feb - Mar- April - will be busy with Case cleaning of refrigeration units.

I will probably pick chewing gum removal up Feb- Mar once weather improves so that protective solution drys quickly so handover of work areas can be made quickly.

Regards

If you want to try a recovery or recycling machine out, you can hire one from Tensid as a one off for a job and see how you get on.

There are a couple of recurring contracts that I am going to try the recycling one out on as they claim you can do about 7 hours on one self contained tank of water... very usefull if there is no water supply close.

Also means very little cleaning down.

Frankly, if I could do only half a day on a tank I would be chuffed to bits.

Hope this helps

Andy
