Made my pump box, Pics.
« on: November 30, 2009, 07:32:55 pm »
Just made my own pump box, got the idea from Dean Taberner's thread and the fact it looked like a good idea.

I had already bought my pump and Ecoflo so thought id just get the box and bits.

I am having the strainer inline and not in the box so I could cut down on size. Just have to neaten the wires and wrap them, and put the battery wires out of the box.

Pretty happy with it, Just hope it doesnt leak with the brass hozelock type fittings.

I actua;lly managed to get the box etc very cheap. Haggles in B and Q due to packaging and a small black mark and it being the only one, The fact I drove "12" miles one way lol.

The rest was a little bit of hose for free, and a few fittings. Two plastic washers to let it mount wither side of box, as when the hose was in, the threaded screw would not but up to it.

Spent £13 In B and Q today, Pump ad controller cost about £170 from gardiners.

Box and fittings would usually be about £30 tops.

But alows you to buy bit by bit if not in a rush etc. And not have to sit in and listen to my girlfrien whineing that I havent been onto the estate agents lol.

Battery is goig to go behine the passenger seat I think. Just done it like this after seeing in the other thread and realised it would be good to be able to remove it easily etc.

Not only that, I like everything to be neat and organised. So it keeps it more tidy and proffesional looking.

Cheers for the comment Chopsie. Very easy to do mate, save yourself some doe! Although not much!!

Hi
From past experience I would suggest you drill a drain hole in the bottom of your box. In the unlikely event of a water leak from one of the couplings, water will drain away, rather than filling up the box and damaging your pump.
Otherwise, looks very professional. I can see why you mounted the control on the side rather than on top.

Yeah was a bit gutted about that lol, But wanted to use as small of a box as possible.

thanks for the tip, will do that tomorrow when I sort out the wires.

Got to finish weatherproofing the ply on the sides tomo, and a few other van/setup jobs. So on the list it goes!!

I used the brass hoselock fitting on the outside, screwed into a brass hose connector on the inside with polystyrene washers to pack them out on the inside. Hope that makes sence lol.

Matt shows the brass fittings in the link he has sent. And on there there is a link of a box he made that has a list of different parts you could use. V helpful and gave me the basics to know what it was I needed.

Its also just a B n Q junction box that would usually be £17.

Dimensions are approx 25 x 15 x 10 cm.
