Where is Alex Gardiner?
« on: November 27, 2009, 10:51:32 pm »
Haven't seen him on here for ages - anyone know why?
It's a game of three halves!

I disagreeesment is that he found the slx cam saga a bit stress full and has had a gutfull of forums.Probably he took his holidayand while he was off the forum for a couple of weeks found his mental outlook improved. It must be disheartening not to know when or from what direction the next attack, diatribe, stupid question, or exagerated complaint is coming from.
Imagine a forum full of your customers malc all making comments like oh by the way you missed a bit on my bathroom cill, and foa malc gold; i've emailed you about my cons roof you charge q tenner can you do it tommorow afternoon.

I don't know how he put up with it as long as he did.

I'm sure i'm right about this. We pretty much all like alex but that doesn't stop us from making his life hell.

I don't really see any way back for him.Victim of his own success. It's probably not just us either, non of our wives like us spending too much time on here and blame any grumpyness on losing an argument on here, plus he's got sis who probably says nice one, read your posts over promising and giving out a load of free stuff again.

I agree ww, but alex is pretty big time.Imagine fifty of us having a go by email or over the phone, then imagine the bulk orders that go off to russia and the states.

Would that make the little one an SL-M or a Sl-F or a twin FM ?

Anyone with a conscience is going to feel stressed out with a series of legitimate  complaints over several months. It's not possible to feel no stress when reading about it on the front page every time. I think the slx has presented alex with the 1st major headache on here (the sl1 did a little bit i reckon as well).
A break will do him the world of good.

I could hardly blame Alex for deciding to quit the forum after some of the comments on here.
As for the SL-X, I received both of my SL-Xs back with the most recent clamps.  It feels much better than having to mess about with an allen key - not that I've needed to adjust anything yet anyway.  It's early days but I have a good feeling again about these poles.  I now use this pole with external pole hose.  In order to ensure that it stays well pushed on to the Y piece, I use a slightly larger diameter pole hose than the one supplied.  As I choose to use hoselock style at the other end of the pole hose, I use the black plastic fitting as supplied by Ionics.  These small modifications seem to be what works best for me at the moment.  The perfect pole does not exist as everybody works a little differently but working this way feels OK once  get used to keeping the pole hose clear of snagging.

Get real Alex G has a fan club on here, and usually gets lots & lots of thanks and praise each and every week, compare that to the very few and occasional challenging comments directed to him this amount is insignificant, even though they tend to have more relevance than the pointless constant praise.   ::)

Wow.  Ewan told me to get real   ;D
