right this isnt to stir up the war between trad and wfp but using trad only and say doing 20 houses in a day with your mop, doesnt that mean that you are basically transferring the dirt you have took off other houses onto the windows of the remaining houses during the day even though you change the water, my mop is getting dirty and i only use it on very odd ocassions, and im scared its putting dirt on other peoples glass again, dont you think this could be the case?

if the mop gets dirty you could wash under a tap to clean it off before the next house.  dirt maight getted pushed about on the glass but then wiped off with squeggee!

i know wcs who will use 1 bucket full of water ,and it will

I use 1 bucket all day, Doesnt cause a problem in the slightest. The mop is mostly to loosen durt etc I would imagine, The blade then removes anything left on the window. Never had a complaint I can remember of.

once theyr part of a regular round,windows hardly get dirty anyway ,    not enough to turn the water brown  . i usually only have a couple of inches water in my bucket and tip it out about twice a day

JRD, You will get all those sort of statements from your custies in the years to come. Even if you can be bothered to answer them properly, after 90 seconds the custy stops listening. Somebody must have set that question in your head. Get used to custies asking what the "Secret mix" you use on the glass to get it clean.

JRD i put my T MOP sleeve in the wash with scrims/microfibres every week and use it for 5 or 6 days work.i use on average 3-4 half full buckets a day.no problem.if its a v.bad first clean i will get a fresh one out of the boot if ive really dirtied it.doesnt affect the clean one bit.i dont ring any cloths out in the bucket.this makes the water v.dirty.v. quickly!!

Well the thing is trad has been used for lots of years and people have been happy as it cleans windows well and leaves them dry which i find customers like, wfp doesn't but im not getting involved in that debate today.

If you are concerned about it, why not carry spares and change them regularly? would put your mind at rest wouldn't it

I once put my unger sleave through the wash (monsoon one) And found it made it go a bit ratty of you know what I mean, all clumpy and wouldnt hold the same as it used to. Now just replace them every month or so. Do rinse it out at night but thats about it.

The way to look at Trad cleaning is that the mop is to dislodge the dirt from the surface of the glass.  The water (wether or ot you use detergent - in my early days we weren't allowed to ) is to lubricate the dirt so it is floating around in the film of water on the glass.  You then remove it with the squeegee leaving the glass clean.

It makes no difference whether your water is fresh or not, providing it isn't so muddy your mop stands up in it, the important thing is to squeegee properly so no dirt is left on the glass.

I do very little 'trad' cleaning these days, and I have a bucket with a couple of inches of water in it in the van.  Sometimes it lasts me a month :  I never get complaints because my results are always first class.

And you call yourself a window cleaner! 

I could use the same large green Unger bucket of water all day, and when I finish I could empty the sludge down a drain; and the windows would be fine.  Rather than shake the applicator onto the ground, I'd remove excess water by running my squeegy down it, so the water would run back into the bucket.  I'd also empty the contents of my bucket on a belt back into the main bucket.  It just saved having to refill the bucket.

I've even been too lazy to walk to my bucket to get a 'dip' and stuck my applicator into a dirty puddle to wet it, and the window was cleaned no problems.

Really, to be a good window cleaner, you need to have knowledge of the basic tools and how they work.

I buy three at a time and changed my last one a month or so ago. Im not saying what your doing is wrong, I just foud the time I washed mine it went horrible, Couldnt get it fluffy again at all no matter how hard I tried.

Maybe washed it to hot with my scrims.

Saying Im chatting nonsense is a bit extreme for something that I have found.
Again maybe different for you.

I may put it in the wash tonight with my scrims and see the outcome again?!

KRAVE i just wash my scrims and T MOP sleeves on 40degrees at the end of the week with a v.small amount of washing powder with NO conditioner.sorry didnt mean the nonsence quip.we just all do things different
