Van from auction

Anyone ever bought a van from auction? Look for a new van and considering ex BT vauxhall vivaro, seems to be loads around and prices can be 1500 cheaper than dealers.

Thats where the dealers get theres from, if they are direct auctions hence why they are cheaper but remember the dealer takes a risk when they make there money, you will be taking the risk and have no come back at all as auction houses are just the broker in a deal..

Before you buy a vivaro do a search on this site because along with primastar and traffic they seem to be the most problematic vans.

most fleet vehicles are ok though

they are well maintained and serviced at the right intervals

yes they are ranted around by the staff, but as they are not that old thats not a major concern

i know a fair few who had got ex-aa vans from auctions and they have been very good buys

I have an ex bt transit and (touch wood) been as good as gold, how ever I got a citreon relay and thats cost me new engine , new gearbox, new starter motor twice, new brakes all round disk calipers pads ect, new battery, new clutch. and now is not working again so more expense >:( will be a top van but cost more than a new one ::)

where did you get the advice about BT transits. ;)

same as me though. mine has been a great workhorse. its slow but its a true trooper. i think them vivaro bt's look interesting. i hated mine but touch wood its been good as gold since it had a head go at 30k ;D

I think the bt vehicles are set up well for wfp systems in them

got a 06 fleet transit (enterprise )....from an auction.

saved more that 2 grand, brilliant van... well serviced and low miles...


you can outbid a dealer too, as once he sees his profits chipping away he backs down... and you get the bargain.

BT vans usually full of racking plus a diesel heater connected to fuel tank and a water heater connected to engine a good days work to remove if direct auction house will state. only buy direct with service history usually a print out. At the moment vans are making 1000 above BOOK NOT BEST TIME TO BUY unless you plan on keeping along time.Bt transit very good workhorse 35 mpg avoid high mileage.

Actually, you do have some come back.  You can return the vehicle (within a given time scale) if it has a serious mechanical problem.

before you bid check on come back policy most are sold as seen unless assured or simaliar if not direct will be sold as seen if you want sleepless nights try and return

I went to auctions yesterday(tuesday) There were certainly no bargains to be had,especially with transits,first time i had been,was hoping to get something to put a tank in i just bought  :(

I was willing to pay up to around £4000,possibly a bit over if it was not to be missed,but hoping for a lot under! They were high milage battered ones going for that,

Stating the obvious here and I'm sure you have, but have you checked Autotrader website. I was having a look at it last night and there were a few decent vans in my area.
