I would love to go out cleaning with someone who does this kind of work to pick up these tips I bet they are invalueable and most use a porti which is usually slower.

Shaun the rooms were average 12x14, a lot of furniture to move and the dining room was badly stained

the same company has a 1/4 page full colour ad in the Y/Ps and does 12k lealfets a month. they must be working @ £200/day (on full days) that's for a 2 man team.

I did a thru room last month and it was bad, I quoted £96 but when I got there I only had to move a 3pc and a table everything was moved as I had requested over the phone, it took me approx 1 hour from getting in to getting out and i can honestly say it was spotless when I had finished £4 tip made it a round number so not a bad hours work.

Sometimes I look at my charges and think that I charge too much and I know that there are cleaners that charge twice as much or even more but then again I saved them a new carpet which would have cost them easily a grand.

Fair play Shaun, they got what they wanted, you got what you wanted, everyone smiling :)

I hit £100/hour for the first time today with my new TM, makes you feel like walking to the nearest police station and handing yourself in doesn't it :D :D

Hi Guys,

There will always be a wide variety of prices and quality not neccesarily linked.

100 per hour is basic for solicitors handling routine and easy work, 1000 for the more complicated.

Jim,
Don't feel guilty about earning decent money, you have invested in top quality equipment.

Cheers

true, but if some gets 3 bed house done could easily be £100 a day

Daz, Carpet Cleaning isn't an "Add on" 100 quid a day, is not an option. Guys in the window section tend to think alot of things can be bolted on and can earn a few quid. All I can say mate, is carpet cleaning is alot more complicated and isn't something to "Poke with a stick" to see what happens. Compared to WCing, it's silly money.

But you have to know what you are doing. Not everyones game. Not being offensive, just to give you a tip mate. ;)

Agree with Doug, 20k plus of van and equipment and you need to earn 100 an hour sometimes to make up for some of the crap jobs!

Doug, I was joking :)

Shaun, yes to a degree... suite cleaning time still not dramatically reduced but only done a few so far since the big switch.  Still having to use a pump-up to prespray loses a bit of time obviously, shame you can't hydroforce a suite (although I bet a few guys here would sheepishly hold their hand up to it!)

The suites I've done have all been ones where before I've needed a lot of prespray/agitation... I've still done the same with the TM because I'm scared it won't rinse off so well and I'll have to start all over :D

I've got the new drimaster tool.  Must say, first time I used it was very impressed although looking back maybe had the pressure a bit high, was a bit damp ???  With the MkII drimaster you're supposed to be able to clean on the push stroke as well aren't you?  I'm sure that's what makes it wetter because only using pull strokes seems a lot drier but then again flushes less.

Admittedly the carpets I did today were pretty much spotless to begin with, just presprayed, waited and rinsed quite fast.  Felt annoyed when I had to squirt some spotter as I worked back out the lounge doorway ;D

Still wrestling with these bloody stiff 2" hoses, sorting myself out to get up to the landing was a bit of a game. (I'll hopefully be getting some nice flexible 2" hose from somewhere when it's back in stock HINT HINT to someone ;) )

Still using my 1.5" wand with a short whip, not got the big bore wand in use yet (hopefully geting a glide for the new wand soon as they're back in stock HINT HINT someone ;D)

Oops sorry hijacked the thread :-x

Know the feeling!

It eats carpet so must be nearly there! ;)

I dream of empty, collect keys, nylon 3 bedders!  ;D

Actually i dreamed of Shaun ashmore last night telling me to increase the psi on a job but that really is too sad to make public,.

Carpet cleaning is taking over sleep now

I still have to pre spray and aggitate upholstery in the same way I always did I can't get good results by just hwe alone, carpets the same, I did once hydraforce a suite and it was wet through but it was so bad just left turbo driers and picked them up later.

Some carpets benefit from machanical aggitation but some don't so I just pre spray those.

It's called "bait and switch " Your pricing includes hoovering prespray agitating spotting etc These people charge extra for these things so in actual fact i expect they are not earning much less than you or I. They quote those prices to get their feet in the door . Not rocket science . ;D,

Jim Neal,
Careful, I got some more flexible 2" hose thinking it would be easier to handle. Problem is its TOO flexible and collapses easily. I dont use it anymore, I just use the Blueline hoses, which once youve experienced the flexible stuff, you appreciatte why they have to be that strong. I now regret selling 100ft of Blueline, when I was expecting delivery of the flexi stuff, I should have held on to them.

I guess we've reached the point where technology hasn't quite caught up with what we wanted.
We wanted 2" suction hose before increased airflow get's better retrieval of solution. I have the 2" blueline which is so rigid that it feels like you're fighting a python. Even when I put the reducer cuff on for using a hand tool that's even more of a fight, so I then end up using 1.5" hose onto it which whilst being more user friendly means you have in effect lost all the benefits of having 2" hose.
Did once manage to roll the transit onto the blueline but it didn't damage it one bit so I guess nothing is going to be 100% perfect.

The more flexi hose I have is doing fine with the Prowler.
I do have some of the stiffer hose too but much prefer the flexi.
The stiffer hose I feel would within stand being run over more then the flexi, but I have to coil the hose up many more times then some vehicle running over it.
