Cleaing cars on Roads in london
« on: November 24, 2009, 06:44:38 pm »
Hi Guys,

Currently in the process of creating a mobile car wash service, and i have found out that there is so much involved in terms of legalities for washing the cars on the road or in NCP car parks etc..
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this potential issue?? ???

Any advice would be amazing !!
thanks in advance! ;)

The problem with cleaning cars on roads commercially is the same problem faced by wheelie bin washers. The water that comes off is classed technically as industrial waste and can't be allowed to enter the drainage system.

Mind you I am a window cleaner in London and there are a few mobile car wash vans around now who are presumably just ignoring the regulations.

Also while you are cleaning the vehicle you are classed as being in charge of it for the purposes of the Road Traffic Act. Even if its locked and you don't have the key.

With this issue of waste water going into the drains in mind, I ask the question, " How the hell do the Tesco Car Park guys get away with it" ?

How many hundreds of gallons of polluted water go down those drains ?

I can't imagine Tesco's putting in special water traps and purifiers....

Simply don't was or valet a car on a public road, it's tooooooo dangerous for one thing and I'm sure your insurer won't allow it???

Alot of the tesco sites do have recycling facilities - these sites are usually franchised and the set up costs are around 20k and rent around 2k a month.
