Also, ive been reading through old threads and the general opinion is to take out ply floor etc?

Mine is plyed, but so are they side walls of the van..

Im going to take out the ply on the floor (god knows what ill find underneath)..but what about the ply on the walls? How would you seal the joint between walls and floor? I really need to keep the ply on the wall because of boxes and pole brackets fixed to it etc?

I have a swb transit, and the 4 litres covered it just and no more. You can thin it out a bit though, states that on the tin.

Just used a 1l tin yesterday for some touch ins, and odd bits that needed redoing.

Its great stuff, just VERY hard to get off skin and clothes.

I will never buy this over priced product for my van I would just use a polyurathane base paint with under cote and they must have hardner to add . ON the floor part to stop slipping I would sprincle some sand and apply a second  cote. I do not think this would come near the price of these special coating and be just as good if not better.

£70 odd to do a standard swb I dont think is much money, it is not really the slipping I would be worried about with the paint more the chiping, the protectakote is rubberized and can take knocks to a degree, hard floor paint would chip would it not ?

buy the kit it has gloves and everything you need to keep it away from your skin.

my first van covered my hands and it took over a week to get off

Also hopefully you like to get high as it takes about 3/4 days for the paint smell to totally go

If so, where did you finish the protectacte, or seal the edge where the ply  meets the floor?

you need to take the ply out and cut it down by 6" 's then refit it ( its only a hour job to take out and then hour to refit ) , then paint the paint up the 6" 's

Polyurethane does not chip on yachts decking so why should it chip in a van that’s were I first used it very hard and resistant

I painted up to the top of the wheel arches, took the ply off the floor left the ply on the sides and sealed the joints with ordinary masking tape(2 thicknesses), when the tape is painted over it is pretty resilient to tearing and has not yet worn (done in February this year.).

Would recommend the protectakote if you have the time, also you would need to do it in a warm environment as it will take ages to go off if done in the cold.
I have 2 vans 1 professionally done and 1 protectakoted, the pro one is still like new 3 1/2 yrs down the line.
