Why would Hm bail out Solutions some 12 months ago, and then sell up?

and that with the rumour Solutions have a new portie on the go.

Some things not making sense.

My thoughts are (not that I'm looking to buy as I'm poor) HM could be feathering the nest and setting up new machines, chemicals and TM's into the Solutions brand and then selling the Hydramster name to the next distributor.

I hope that is the case Shaun as I think it would be the industry's loss if JG was'nt involved any more.

John works hard for his company but also hard for our industry I don't want him to leave it but if he's got a bigger plan I'd like him to do well and succeed he has done well for CCDO and other donating loads for charity and also giving his time.

The sales particulars say the owner has a land portfolio to develop, any buyer would probably ask for a non competition clause.

Non competition clauses don't work. They are virtually impossible to enforce & there are to many ways around them.  If you invest in a business, you have to have the belief that you can make a success of it irrespective of competition.

sounds to me that john has had enough of the cleaning industry and just wants to try something new, good luck to him and lets hope who ever buys it, gives as much as john did. top man.

Where's the confusion. He's selling up and going into property development. He has the land. Labour & materials can found cheap now.
Wishing him all the best for the future.

Now is the time to develop property if you have the land to build on and many people diversify in business all the time. I spent many years in the retail business myself before diversifying into the cleaning business.
I remember those who were in our line of business some years ago who are now doing other things.
Everything moves on , nothing remains the same for long.
