One of the very first paid jobs i did,was a hallway,pale green woolen ,had had a lot of traffic over it`s life and never been cleaned.
Did vac very through,my equipment was all brand new,so working at it`s full potential,soon as i put soloution on it,it went blacker than black,custy was stood behind me watching  And said i hope that goes back to it`s niormal colour !
Oh yes it will all be ok,many wet passes later,i got it out !
That`s when i learnt to check depth of soiling in the carpets whe3n quoting,what should have taken half hour,turned into 1.5 hrs !

Was just about white death this morning in Edinburgh. The van was total covered
in ice and frost, even had to scrap the inside of the windscreen.
Yes had gear in the back. Got away with it, managed to sort out storage for the foreseeable
future. Watch out.

Did you aggitate with a machine?

The carpet doesn't look that bad for it to happen.

I've only seen this a couple of times. Both were caused by building work leaving fine dust in the carpet. The first time I saw it the carpet looked pretty good then it changed colour as soon as I put the the wand on it. Not sure I ever found a really good way of dealing with it except going over it again and again. I guess flushing power is the key to it. However I think it's possible to for the dust to go right through the carpet so your actually pulling it up through the backing.
Black death is about right.

Nice wand, SNAP! mines the 14" so I only use it on large areas, I think its great.

get this sometimes, do you think its from being cleaned by a rent machine in the past, driving soil down?

shaun I was running at about 500psi, I agitated with the envirodri I bought off You

I think it's just a massive accumulation of soil within  the pile, I only see it on old carpets (25yrs plus) I usually spot them  when surveying the job so make sure I have a rotary & some bonnets on the van. I find running a bonnet across after I've cleaned gets out any marks that is still present.

Reminds me of one in Edinburgh's new town, (200 years old) they used to put ash between the floorboards for sound proofing. Really bad for filtrating lines.

Mike I've had a problem with a heavy soiled 80-20 the same as in your photo. I had a hybrid glide on, and there were heavy lines down the side, when I changed wands to one with just holes the problem disappeared.

sorry Derek doing that won't make a blind bit of difference and would be a complete waste of time.

this dirt is'nt underneath the carpet, it is within the carpet pile (no dirt is been pulled through the carpet)

I find that you tend to get this with old people as they don't get marks on their carpets but compressed soil, do you find that if you leave your wand on the same spot you can pull this through?

I have post bonnetted with activator on really bad ones but you have to charge a bit more but it does make a very good finish.
